Olloquiegui was taken over in 2002 by Acciona for 51 %, and in 2005 nearly all staff was fired and drivers were asked to become independent drivers.

Rumour is there is apparently still a company with the name and they are working as an agent only , but with just a few people in the office,

From what i have seen Harold Wood seemed to use mainly MAN’s in his fleet. It looks like he
tested other trucks as per the Scania.

0You forgot this Sed Atki Dean.

The old man (Harold Wood himself) was an AEC man from the start.

Yes, absolutely. Harold Wood started in the mid-1930s with AECs and at its peak there were 450 AECs in the fleet at any one time. He was one of the very few customers who was big enough to deal directly with Southall for his orders, and he had priority of build. No waiting list for him. By the time MANs appeared Harold Wood had sold the business and retired.

Hi all, Looking at the Spanish trucks and there marker boards, can anyone remember the coloured lights that were on trucks to indecate, was it weight or something ■■?
I think there was a sequence that had to be on to indecate something, back in the 70’s. “Gazza” did a lot of Spain/italy, maybe someone can tell me ■■? Harvey

Thanks for your comments Keith.

I had some stuff on the Leader but cant find it. :unamused: I have not looked at the photo you are talking
about but they also offered the Venturer. Now we will wait for “240 Gardner” to come along and bollock as
all for talking rubbish as he knows a thing or two about these Atkinson’s !

Thanks for posting all the great pics “Kempston” . That Noble fella certainly runs some tidy kit.
I worked for a fella that had some 8 wheeler FH Volvo’s similar to the ones in your pics who does
factory removals. They are 32 tonners but weight about 23 tons empty due to the weight of the
crane and the heavy bodies. I queried this with the driver as the payload is a joke but he said there
prime aim is not about carry weight but lifting the machinery out of factories etc onto the artics.
Price wise they are serious money and were well over £200,000 each ! Intrestingly i was talking to
a driver last week who again was driving a similar Scania and he told me the rough price of those
cranes was something like a grand a metre. So if you have a 65 metre reach the crane costs
roughly £ 65,000 ! Now i dont know anything about cranes but just repeating what i was told.

Thanks for confirming Graham i seem to remember now you and Paul saying that earlier in the thread. I was
not sure as all the adverts i have seen have had the MAN’s in so appreciate the clarification.
Those AEC’s were before my time.

Kempston:

Good pics “Kempston” of Hales Cakes. I assume the bus was to transport the workers to the factory !

We have had a fair few of there trucks on here and if you are intrested i posted an article about Hales back on
page 128.
