Hello Dai …and once againmany thanx for posting this pic of the Atki line up and the BMC …Dad says his mate drove a Dodge artic that had a Leyland comet 375 motor that went like the wind …his work was from Metal closures in Swansea hauling metal bottle tops …Did Austin Jones have a 6x2 Atki artic in the 70s ?..(WG) Davies had one …and Joint Motorways had a couple also …

These are / were AEC Mammoth Major six wheelers. 10 or 12 were built for the RAF by AEC Southall in the mid-1970s. Some were known to be put into storage at an RAF base when these secretive AECs were retired and replaced by MANs.

Memory Lane Cakes was also Spillers in those days, from their Cardiff bakery. Just being a bit pedantic, the Spillers French name only lasted for about 5 years, then it reverted to Spillers again.

The pic of this Berk Spencer sedi talk rings a bell…I’m sure this company had a small plant on Sway road Morriston Swansea back in the 70s. …I recall a B series ERF based there I’m sure…someone might remember ?
