You may well be right, Mark and you know well enough how I can clutch at straws when it comes to ERF NGCs ! Nonetheless, it is odd that the ERF bears an identical black italic capitals BFI logo complete with the red four-way arrow emblem, as used on BFI fleet vehicles. Robert

Bowden Freight International they used do a lot of work out of British Gypsum in East Leake and Gotham
They also did trunking for Boots the Chemist out of their massive Beeston site
By all accounts they also took the banks to the cleaners, went belly up to some tune!!

That’s right also the Boss of BFI later set up another transport firm called MLG they ran Volvos again running out of British Gypsum they often subbed work off us
Most of our new van trailers were built by Cartwright and they were delivered by a company called Prouts Trailers Ltd who were coincidentally owned by MLG
They ran an ex Watneys SA 400 with a 290 ■■■■■■■ and Allison automatic gearbox
I re cabbed it after the Driver Dennis rolled it on the M1

Although BFI had a large fleet back then, I don’t remember seeing them with tipper trailer before. Nor do I remember them having anything other than Fiats either. Great photo though.
BFI had a depot at Lydbrook, Forest of Dean for a few years. I believe all the trailers at that yard were tippers on hire from Rothdean.

You’re right, it is a good pic and it reminds me that their wrecker was an ERF NGC ‘European’ (see pic below)! Does anyone know where it originated or whether it started life as a unit or a rigid (drawbar)? Robert
