What a great photo… It’s a late model too, shame the C badge is missing. I wonder if that little boy became a lorry Driver?
Was the Car Removal DAF, ex AutoCarriers?

The registration makes it a late model AEC but the grille is earlier.
Dukes Transport on the mainland was taken over by Montgomery Transport in 2002 after Dukes failed to have its Scottish operating licence reinstated after Scottish Transport Commissioner described some of Dukes’ Transport drivers as behaving like an “undisciplined rabble”, while he said the company’s control mechanisms were a shambles.

Hi moomooland,
Dukes drivers in Stranraer moved over to Mc Burney or Montgomery, or a few smaller operators when it closed.
Trust me, they are still the nicest bunch of undisciplined drivers I have met and many point blank refuse to carry 2 or three drivers cards “to this very day”.
Harvey
Duke’s Manchester depot drivers used to load out of MFS at Maltby for Littlewoods Stores in Belfast and Londonderry int 80s when Woodside Brothers couldn’t do it. They were a great set of lads,we never had a problem with them.
The Dodge has ‘Griffiths Steels Ltd’ across the front but I don’t know where it’s from…Looks like the reg is possibly ‘OH’ Birmingham, ‘DH’ Dudley or ‘CH’ Nottingham…

I notice the ERF number plate ends 89, doe’s anyone know when they stopped using 7 or 77 at the end? I think Montgomery was always 8 or 88.
Thanks Dave.
Sorry Dean,
This is not a truck, but may give a smile to start the new year off.
I took this about 1986 in Swindon, ( had my camera with me on this occasion )
Storey is, a house clearance company, Indian, or Chinese family opened this shop but by the time it had to change its advertising it was up and running.
I am sure someone on here will know about this. Cheers Harvey
