PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

Well I can’t really remember Durhams having Fodens, fleet at that time was mostly Seddon Atkinson and ERF. Wagon is pulling one of Sandersons trailers can see the green and purple band on trailer which copied Durhams orange and yellow band . Sandersons were taken over by Durhams hence the same style livery for a couple of years until depot was closed and were all amalgamated at Durhams main yard at Billingham.
Looks like a load of colliery arches out of BSC Lackenby. Great to see these pictures still Dean and a happy new year to you.

DEAN, not sure if any one answered about the car transporter earlier ,but here is one in the same livery ,it must be CAR TRANSPORT as they ran from Oxford Brs in the early 80s ,nice load of Montegos .

Rotate the picture to see why they ran flats.

Virtually most of their trailers were always left down the mill as in them days there was loads of places to drop trailers.McNaughton used Larkfield trading estate as his trailer park as he only had a pokey yard round Mill Street in East Malling

Thanks for your input “lawrence2765”

I remember seeing that F7 with whatever it is on the roof but it’s that long ago now. Possibly West Midlands/Black Country area as I frequented that region regularly? Pete.

Cheers Pete !

That’s the way to do it! I had a Reiver with twin rams, the nearside ram used to give the offside one a 1sec start then catch it up at the end, so always expecting a roll over. I never got used to it for all the gaffer said I would

Oily, is the you! Ha Ha, picked up off another site.

Same Commer ,I found it on ebay a few years ago and sent some pictures to the seller from yesteryear , I know at least one Oxford driver who drove this vehicle is still alive ,I only drove it round the yard .

I lived in Canada for a short period, but I’ll be moving back there this year when I retire, as my Wife is Canadian and wants to go home, must say I cant wait.

Buzzer:
Hi Dean if I am not mistaken the very tidy ERF container truck is one of George Taylors from Bristol. cheers Buzzer

Cheers “Buzzer” ,certainly a tidy looking motor !

Great to see the Cartrans Leyland…Every Depot had a different make of truck depending on what contract they were on. They were all different colours too but always had the stripe over the cab. I worked for the Queenborough depot on the Isle of Sheppey where we had Mercedes 1626 on the Toyota contract. The first ones were red 1626s with a white stripe and the second batch were white1625s with a red stripe. I wasn’t a driver back then, I worked in the yard.

Morning Dean,
Apologies for the late reply 1st day back at work!
Oscar Johnson’s motor’s were usually ex Horace Kendrick so they were well run in !! Cheers Pete

DEANB:
These 2 adverts are a similar colour scheme to the Foden artic but not exact.

Click on pages twice to read.

Morning Dean,
The Foden I was going to guess at Stownhall from near Bewdley seeing as the colours are similar and it has Worc’s reg no, but on googling the reg no this pic came up! Credit for picture is Colin Pidoux

Your thinking is correct Dean,it is one of LPG’s Volvos on contract to BSC Chemicals Orgreave,Sheffield,on tar and tar associated products.
I knew most of their Orgreave-based drivers but can’t make out the one in the picture.

I also remember Maidments from Tisbury when they stayed at Silvertown Motel late 60s,about half a dozen fridge motors churning away all night. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Cracking shot that is Dieseldog66, Luton depot wagon, he’s is or has been upstairs checking the Bedford CA van on the back, always a bit of leeway with an arch bridge, we never had any measure stick or tape, just info sought off other drivers or ■■■■ it and see, personally got caught out three times  , one turn back(artic) and one(wagon and drag) letting tyres down on top deck cars also tightening the chains pulling down on the hydrolastic suspension on 1100s, another time cars off bottom deck, drop top deck, under bridge deck up and cars back on very deaf to honking traffic.
