Classic story “coomsey”

I don’t know if it is just the angle but is that Taunton Cider trailer a bit unusual? It may be a 38ft widespread tandem because it looks a bit short, but also the bed seems rather high as well.

What would the Foden’s Foden likely have carried with such low drop sides? presumably something very dense. The colour scheme possibly hints at China Clay? It looks possibly like a short wheelbase vehicle too with that rather old fashioned spare wheel mounting often seen on short tippers.

The Taunton Cider trailer could be a cut down special trailer of some sort, note the ladder on the front headboard that’s hindering a tidy sheeting job.

That Taunton cider shot may be a bit unusual as you cant see the end of the trailer possibly ■■? A fine
spread axle,Robert will like that one !

As for the tipper it looks like EEC colours who like you say did alot of china clay. I would imagine
“coomsey” or “Bonkeydollocks” could tell us more ■■

Used to run into China Clay boys regular in the 70s. They took clay Stoke then coal back down, always one or two at Snibston pit Leic, s which I run out of regular. Fodens Foden obviously didn’t come our way, be cheaper to post the coal down. With them sides he’d get his full load granite or pig iron and I would have thought clay. Bet he didn’t level the clay off though Dean

I think the Scammell tanker belonged to this firm.

Is it right Webbo that the reason you won’t “show your face” at the Cenotaph is because the RAF Police will “clock” you and have you back in the guard room PDQ for going AWOL ? :open_mouth:

Well,I’ve been to the local war memorial in Onchan today, which is just outside Douglas, and when it were Isle of Man Police’s turn to lay their wreath I did turn away for a moment in case I were recognised. :grimacing:
My father was a Flight Sergeant in RAF Police when I was in RAF at same time and he never got me locked up.Maybe because I bought all his beer.

Wrong again me owd pal. We were both at RAF Changi Singapore together in 1964-65 and he was at Spitalgate Grantham when I were at Scampton. And I never got to peel spuds in Lincolnshire, only load 'em and take em to markets.

I think it’s one of Leather’s Chemicals from Bradford when the livery was changed from green.I remember that colour int 70s.
But there again can’t be sure, could be one of Buckley’s Warrington or RTS from Runcorn.
