L0332.JPGIts the A533 over the River Weaver in the centre of Northwich Cheshire.
Its one way now as you can see below so you could not get an oncoming shot like that today.

Hiya Dean, great shots once again,Heres a shot of the Permatrans Merc TAD945R (on the left) dressed in Swains livery when they had a yard in Bristol,Cheers Bubbs,

A01528.JPG

There was a conversion kit available from Foden dealers (Fodens themselves wouldn’t recognize them of course! :unamused: ) for the large 11" Foden lamps, a round fibreglass panel made for two of the either 5" or 7" lamps (can’t remember the actual size) to be fitted to replace them. I know that Reg. Knowles tried to get the factory involved in making them but they were not interested in change, one reason why Reg started selling Fiat trucks as they actually listened to feedback from the dealers and operators.

Pete.

Was it Nortons who used to have a bit of a sideline re.furbishing 400 Sed Atks ?
Their own and for others, complete with a 401 style grille?

Hiya Dean,a couple of pages back you put one of Marks pics…I had the reg number ringing a bell and found this shot…she was a second hand acquisition to Framptons so I assume the white/blue colours were the original owners, apologies for putting the anorak on!! :unamused: ,Cheers Bubbs,

Beat me to it, Paul!!

XBV 241R, fleet number 243. pretty certain that was a Fleetwood motor.

Harry Norton subbed a lot for B+I Line, and rather more than he did for Pandoro, as I recall.

Dean, would you mind if I posed the Pandoro pic (suitably credited) onto the Pandoro Facebook page, to see if we can identify the driver?

They had some like that, but so did everyone else! Longton Coachcraft in Leyland used to make a GRP grille that was remarkably similar to the factory item, and which was fitted to many local 400 Series

We have had a few pics of Oscar JW Johnson & Son’s Foden tippers on this thread. Anyone got any more

Thanks for that Pete,so they would have had a fairly hard life before they started there second life
then !

Gillards Transport from Burrowbridge in Somerset were specialists in moving concrete beams. I can
remember this company and they had a smart fleet of Volvo’s.
