Thanks “revman” no such thing as a bad pic of a 88 mate !
Chris Webb:
Paul’s photo of the MFS Scania 81 with Littlewoods livery reminds me that MFS had only two vehicles that were not registered in Sheffield or West Yorkshire. They were OWO 834R and OWO 835R fleets 100 and 101.Fleet 101 ended up at Maltby as a shunter. Who would the dealer have been in South Wales as WO was Cardiff after 1974,Monmouth previous to that.I’ve included a photo of it at Maltby…
Thanks for the information Chris and the pic !

Hi Dean.No the Guy is not one of Gunness Haulage,it’s a firm from Bedworth Warwickshire - and I’ve forgotten the name.
Would it be Frederick Allen , Chris ? Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dean, The car is a “Standard Vanguard Vignale” on the “Hillman Avenger” picture. Regards, Ray Smyth.
“What is the car on the opposite side of the motorway overtaking the ERF ■■?”
Standard Vanguard Vignale, late '50s early '60s Dean.
Cheers

Hi DEANB,
Just when i thought it couldnt possibly get any better, then you go and post this.My old mate Ron REES,in his fairly new? marathon XWN 671T…
That Renault 12 on opposite carriageway looks a to be a bit light on the steering

1The Atki is one of Wood & Butlers from Darwen near Blackburn.

Certainly is, Wood & Butler were in Branch Road, Lower Darwen. It’s a Mk.2 ‘Silver Knight’, by the way, Dean
Look at the sleeper “extension” on it too - about half the size of a Jennings pod, and they weren’t up to much to start with! Wood & Butler had one or two like that.
Incidentally, RCB 77K in Paul’s photo, was new to W. H. Bowker, and worked for Wood & Butler for many years after leaving Bowker. No mudguard on the drive axle, I see!

Paul will know best, but I don’t think it is. This one was, though, to pick up another of today’s threads: and ex-Riding motor with Wood & Butler:

Dean if it is YXG then XG was a Middlesbrough prefix number.

Hi Chris,
The Killingbeck and the Wood and Butler Atki’s above were never Riding motors.

Ah, I was misled by the registration, sorry! I think you may have told that before…
I reckon VB Davies must have had one of the smartest fleets on the road back then. But my favorite today is probably JT Hunts Atki, quality pic.
