Keep it short,…Forty years at this game never thought id make it to retirement… Get sum of the money I put in back…hopefully…Single ( Divorced 20 + years ) …Saw a residential B+ B in Eastbourne has competitions nightly for residents etc…but a guy at my firm said I should look at retiring to Pattaya…He said it’s like Disneyland for grown men…but the rides are better… Advice is welcome
I lived there for nearly two years. They have a saying there, Good men go to heaven, Bad men go to Pattaya.
If its your thing then its great, take a holiday there and see for yourself. 2 weeks on Soi 6, and Soi 13/4 and you’ll know if its for you long term or not!
Pattaya or Eastbourne? Single man, retired with pension income, no contest really.
Trust me, they’ve thought of everything, it’s all been laid on for you.
Take a two week holiday, there are some eye watering deals on flights to Bangkok via the Middle East, Ethihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways are having a price war at the moment.
Be warned, Pattaya can mess with your head, don’t leave your brains at the airport like a lot of guys, young and old.
Gary Glitter land?
Pattaya
you will be the only one in pattaya with a zimmer frame in eastbourne you won’t
Pattaya without a doubt mate, I stay a few miles from Pattaya in Jomtien a little quieter than the hustle and bustle of Pattaya and only ten minutes away in a baht bus
This is one of the things you have got to do before you die
Don’t think I could retire their I travel 2 or 3 times a year to Thailand usually a months visa or get another 2 weeks extension making it a 6 week holiday
Then back home to UK and start driving on a self employment basis which I have done for 35 years
I was told today that the BBC is thinking of relocating there …

That is very good☺
Pattaya everytime, but keep a tight rein on your money, easy to overspend and many retirees run out of money.
They’ve tightened up on the visas now and instead of just nipping across to Cambodia to renew, you now have to fly out.
If you get a retirement visa, you need 800,000B in the bank permanently
There’s a forum Pattayatalk, join that, you’ll get any questions answered on there.
See you there in Sept.

I know a few guys who spend the winter time over in Thailand then return to the UK during the summer.
As for the visas have you considered getting a 2nd UK passport?
Go to Thailand, Cambodia not far to tour around and sight see, same for Vietnam.
Oz and NZ not too far.
Buy a plot of land and build your house .
Eastbourne coffin dodgers and blue rinse brigade that swarm in there on coaches for Turkey and tinsel in October, even the coach is decorated like Santa’s Grotto, drivers all wear waistcoats .
But I do like the Seven Sisters natural park, stunning river walk to the beach and cosy pub on the hill .
Good and sound advice… IM GOING…mentioned to the guy at work, that considering my age etc, would there be any problems with meeting someone… He said "No problems money right they would shag the living dead "… Bit of a harsh statement but it has put my mind at rest…foreign country making friends etc…

I had a T-shirt with that on
I stayed down Soi 6 too, can’t remember which hotel. Only £10 a night plus a £440 flight. Way cheaper than buying a package holiday. This was many moons ago though, not sure on flight prices these days.
Just remember OP, don’t fall in love out there. It’s not Pretty Woman and you’re no Richard Gere. There’s more than enough women to bone a different bird every day until the day you die so why saddle yourself with an ex bar ■■■■■ and all her ill aunties and uncles that need expensive operations.
I’ve worked with guys who’ve been took for over £10k by their wives. I’m working with a guy at the moment who thinks his wife is a keeper coz he’s given her £10k and she hasn’t run off and left him yet. ■■■■ right she hasn’t run off Mr ATM. Thick as ■■■■
And don’t get me started on these idiots that only see their wives for 3 weeks a year. I got news for you mate, you’re wife is married to about 10 other guys and bleeding them dry too

Apparently they have found it’s like Alton Towers but with better rides.
Thanks Mr Terry…I’m more Elephant Man than Richard Gere, I take a book out what the actor Jack Nicholson said "he pays a ■■■■■ to leave " …1hr once a week is enough for me…I’m not a needy person quite comfortable with my own company… Still like to look at attractive girls but know they don’t paint themselves for my attention…
That’s it mate. Few times a week, wham bam thank you mam and off you go. I do know a guy with a Thai bride and they’re married with kids and seem happy enough but who knows the full story. He is morbidly obese and she’s the usual stick thin rake. You won’t see a fat bird in Pattaya, they’re too poor to be fat
They seem to be making things work though. I guess being pounded by a fat guy a few times a week is preferable to catching wild dogs and making kebabs out of them. Hire a motorbike and drive just a few mile away from Pattaya out into the sticks and see how these poor sods live.
Haha Terry mate you don’t know how right you are! I couldn’t believe the number of ladies who had guys from different countries sending them money each month. Honestly the mind ■■■■■■■ boggles at how deluded some guys were. They were sending a couple of hundred quid a month to keep their “mistresses” out of the bars, and to have their own place, and they would still work the bars and live 6-8 girls in a room to save money. Then they would keep a poor Scuba Instructor like me warm if they weren’t bar fined, and my room nice and clean too! Cheers guys!
Great place to visit, but not somewhere to fall in love, either with the area or a bar girl
But you could visit once a year and be looked after like a king.
Ps I wasn’t recommending you stay in Soi 6, just lunch at the Queen Vic, and some après lunch at any bar down that road.
I prefere Jaywick myself
Having lived near Eastbourne and having had long periods in Thailand, including Pattaya, my money is literally on Pattaya, purely for financial reasons, forget all that Thai bride stuff, avoid the Russians and you should do well.
Better to die having lived than survived.
