So, if you’re not in the cab, are you really a driver?
The PDA acts on behalf of its’ members, but on some issues, the item under discussion affects everyone. Take, as an example, the parking petition. The lack of facilities for drivers parked up at night affects everyone here. We’ve all parked up in some layby where there was nothig except a strip of tarmac. It seems every driver these days is at risk of a gas attack. Is it so wrong to campaign and say this is not on? Is it such a terrible insult to build relationships with MSA companies and so-on so they can have a chance of understanding the driver’s point of view?
I, personally, don’t think that this will be sorted out for a long while, but members of both sites are working towards the same goal. Looking at the responses on both sites over the past few days it is clear that the majority of members feel the same way, and that it’s a personal argument that has gotten blown out of all proportion, and unfortunatley Sam and I are good friends with the parties concerned so we have to be extra careful what we say to anyone. It has gotten to the stage where I fell I can no longer post on Trucknet for fear of what the membership of the PDA will think, well not anymore.
What I would like to see is the mutual respect restored between both sites, that was there in the begining. The people who have the personal grudges to give it a rest, we know that they may never be sorted out but think of the damage that is being done to BOTH sites by the constant bickering. Let Trucknet do their thing and the PDA do its, but most of all lets show the doubters that the UK drivers can unite and make our industry a better place for us all to work.
This has been posted on both sites, just so you all know
I can say no more than echo the comments of the post immediately above this one by Henrys Cat.
Lets just all get on with trying to improve the drivers lot where possible
can i just say this is a brilliant site which i have just joined and got some great help. however i do know the history of things from my friend who was involved with the pda. ■■ was treated really badly and has hence stopped her involvement in the transport industry help groups. i wont go into detail but i just had to say something.
