That’s some Atki, I wonder how they used the extra space in the cab, bench passenger seat perhaps?
Also I do miss the flat steering wheel and high seating position in the cabs of that era, ideal for getting extra purchase on the armstrong steering.

Todays selection, Buzzer nmp’s
What every driver needs: a wide choice of log books!
Less heat from the engine too.
I agree the upright position was fine in the older trucks.
See some drivers today with the seat low and arms out straight like an F1 car. Race cars are not built like that for comfort nor visibility. Sit up straight and you`ll be physically better off in the long run (or drive) and see more.
Darn it, edited because of apostrophes
I think that could be a Unipower ? , this was a reply to buzzers question but i posted it in the wrong place. kin new forum is a mare
Almost more important than an upright driving position.
A close shave though.
“what motor is it plying Liverpool roads, Buzzer”

Many years ago a car was in a fatal crash on one of the flyovers on the A13 near Barking. It transpired that it had an old car car engine in the boot.
Yes Patrick, and I wonder what connection there might be with the Unipower heavy haul units, back to google
Oily
Yes a connection from the light to heavy Unipower units with both Scammel and Alvis involved. Came across this when googling go to Heavy Haulage Patrick for an interesting Unipower article.
Oily
Unfortunately no, Patrick! This was before the digital camera era began, and moreover I had no idea I wouldn’t remain the youngish man I was at that time.
I had another Iveco, this 190-48 fitted with the big 17 litre V8, but just for a month.
Ah, tell me about it.
Pity Paul, but fully understandable. I always liked those Turbostars, they really looked the part.
They used to do a lot of bulk tipper work for Coopers metals(now EMR) and ran mainly Scammell Handymans. Didnt realise they had a place in Southampton
