They bought a couple of Crusaders from BRS Truck Rental in the late 70’s with the reg no’s (IIRC) SGD478/479R. At that time BRS only kept the vehicles on the rental fleet for a period of two years. These could be them.
Edit: Just noticed that only the front one is a day cab so that discounts the rear unit from being ex BRS.

When did the high option ISO shipping containers come in? Saw a picture of a model one, which was a 40-footer (12m) in 1:50 scale. For some reason my memory is saying the high ones didn’t come out till the 45-footers (13.6m) came along. Someone put me right! Ro

Hi
The standard TEU is Iso 20 x 8 x 8
As I remember the 8’6” height same in 72/73 The 45’ was much later and only in the European market - greedy boxes, and very dangerous on loading bays.
Hope that helps

Thanks Ken! I was thinking of the high-cube boxes that came in a fair bit later than that at 9’ 6" IIRC. Cheers! Ro

0Who will tell more about this one, lying somewhere on the seabed since WW II? Looking at the colour of the fish, I’d say it’s in a tropical area, perhaps the Pacific.
Hi Froggy,
According to google, it is a Bedford that went down with the ship Thistlegorm in the Red sea near Egypt
Thanks for the swiftness of you reply, Pete! It’ll certainly take a little elbow grease to start irs engine again!

Morning Gents,
I can only remember the rigid Scania’s that Chris has mentioned, the yard was on the slip road from the Armada island on to the Tyburn road under Spagetti junction. It is or was being used by a road management company, the lads who put the cones and signs all out on the motorways!
Kept this quiet Mr Carryfast!
