My late Great Uncle Isaac Smiles & his eldest son Tommy, Pioneers to the haulage game in my book, Regards Larry.
Thanks to all who’ve posted photo’s that either bring back memories or show what drivers had to put up with before our time on the road. Also thanks to those who’ve had the foresight and interest to keep those photo’s. The overseas ones are interesting too. Keep 'em all coming lads.

Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, but the style of the house in the background definitely looks more British than Persian! Any idea about the make of the beast?1935 Leyland Rhino.
OilyThanks! Certainly a mighty truck, with a Germanic style of the 1930s.
Another Leyland Rhino dated 1931…and a similar house in the background. As Leyland built the body and cab for this Hovis lorry, the house was probably at Leyland.

Possibly the same as these two loads…
…which are sacks of feathers, from an era when pillows and eiderdowns were stuffed with feathers.

Even adjusted for inflation, I bet those Bedford S models maintenance costs will be a small percentage of any three modern day vehicles today, and probably a lot more reliable
