Cheers for putting us on the right track Pete, seems to be a Butler indeed! Never heard of it before, and it seems Oily has done me homework…I’m quite used by now you’re ignoring me mate, no worries, and as for Senior… he’s to busy with his “wooly” mates at present…
To provide us with some extra info, the beast was powered by a V12 Detroit Diesel… I’m sure CF knows more about that…

Cheers to anyone who’d paticipate in the search to discover what make it was

Cheers for the pic Dean  not as silly as it looks 2CV Saharas with snow ploughs, they were twin engined ,this courtesy of Wikipedia
"The 2 CV 4 × 4 2CV Sahara appeared in December 1960. This had an additional engine-transmission unit in the rear, mounted the other way around and driving the rear wheels. For the second engine there was a separate push-button starter and choke. With a gear stick between the front seats, both transmissions were operated simultaneously. For the two engines, there were separate petrol tanks under the front seats. The filler neck sat in the front doors. Both engines (and hence axles) could be operated independently. The spare wheel was mounted on the bonnet. The car had ample off-road capability, but at twice the price of the standard 2CV. 694 were produced until 1968 and one more in 1971. Many were used by the Swiss Post as a delivery vehicle. "

For a minute I’d thought that ROF was written on the door… not sure what the T stands for though… right, I’ll get me coat…

Bit of a unusual system…?

Cheers, Patrick

Hi Oily, I saw Wee Burney’s rant on the BBC Scottish news tonight, she would be better with a shovel gritting the M80 at ■■■■■■■■■■■ than ranting on in Hollyrood. Local good folks living beside the motorway broke down the motorway fences to offer assistance to some of those folk stranded there for hours, up to a thousand vehicles stuck and some lorry drivers took folk into their cabs to keep them warm.

It’s a Kenworth design apparently Dennis, never saw summat before… was solely designed as a pusher axle for short wheelbase tractor units, don’t reckon it was a much used system though.

Cheers, Patrick

Another one that boggles the mind… Apparently Scania supplied Mack with their engines…?

I passed my one and only driving test on one of those, OK, it had a van body on but the chassis was the same. It was a dodgy February morning, I passed, I was like a dog with two willies right up to the time (20 minutes after passing), I hit some black ice and stuffed the Austin into a wall. It’s called ‘getting experience the hard way’.

When I was a nipper my late big brother’s mate used to drive the 3 way van version for the local laundry, reckoned the brakes were useless. Cab happy all my life, I blagged a shotgun ride with him a couple of times when I wasn’t out with dad in his O type Bedford, big brother in his Harrods LD or the next door neighbour in his Esso Scammell. At the moment it’s shotgun only again for me, the doctor has told me not to drive pending some tests.
