A few more for Tony - a reminder of your mis-spent youth?
I can just see you in this next one - driving round the Derbyshire Dales in the sixties, visiting owner-drivers and tipper men!

That’s not a cab - that’s a self-contained apartment!

First picture is a still off Minder, second picture same motor in its first life,I drove 2266 for part of it’s early life with Stamps/UTT - 320 ■■■■■■■ and long before limiters, went like s**t off a shovel!
I can well remember when on nights, leaving the M11 onto the M25 anticlockwise, up the climb to the first tunnels and fully freighted, she would be doing 80 and still accelerating - frightening, but great to drive!Never knew she went on to find fame and fortune on the telly!
Those Minder stills look as though they might be in Billy Humphries yard in Silvertown?
Steve
Hi Steve,
There was a Billy Humpries motor in another Minder episode, a Roadtrain I think, but I can’t remember which episode it was,

Not a very good picture but clearing the snow in Carter Street Uttoxeter 1947 Outside Atkey’s garage.Ward and Godbehere were builders in the town in Smithfield Road.Note the Elkes Bakery van in the distance and the clock on Willisford’s Jewellers which was knocked down by Motors many times.Anybody remember it ?
That was the A518 out of town and note the signpost.

Hi Tony,
It was fun coming down the A518 in to Uttoxeter and wanting to turn left for Stoke! or you could turn left just after Bamfords and go on to Stone road and come out just before Elkse’s, imagine town centre with out that by-pass today? Cheer’s Pete

I remember nearly always having to do a shunt when turning left off the Stafford Road into the High Street to head out towards Rocester with my Sed Ak 400, it caused many a near miss when traffic tried to follow me out and then spotted my reversing lights come on!
The Foden could get round easily in one go. So I sometimes went via the cattle market or nipped onto the Stone Road and then through the houses, was it Holly Road, and come out by the Three Tuns pub.
Pete.

Do you remember the copper standing on a manhole cover directing traffic at the junction High street,Carter Street,Market Place. For Stone up Derby Road past Fryers past the Grammar School and past the Cattle Market ?
Tony
We used to nip up that one way street opposite Stafford Road Tony, if you didn’t and went round then one of your fellow workmates would use it to get past you and beat you to the job so you had to keep your wits about you! A bit tight at times, especially if pedestrians were using it.
Pete.
Not all with wheels but takes you back some, Buzzer.
