Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Hi oily, I think you mean the ERF Sun works near the market place, Fodens at Elworth about 1 1/2 mile up the road.
Cheers,
Leyland 600.

Interesting pics Tyneside, my Dad was a Washington lad and he told me he ran messages for the Army lads in Blackfell Camp when it was occupied by an Ack Ack unit during the start of the war, mainly notes to local lasses to meet up at dances or a Fish n Chip run, he made quite a few Bob! I’m sure the driver of the Calders lorry down the hole worked later at Van Hee, the name John Poulter rings a bell and the Ferret Armoured cars became familiar during my Army days. Cheers for posting them, Franky.

Hi Leyland600, I bow to your superior knowledge, I had a imprint in my mind of wrought iron gates with Foden insignia worked into them, but it may well have been ERF, anyway looking on google street map, the place is unrecognisable from what I remember, the pub I gather shut in or around 2002.
Cheers

Hiya,

Saw these lot last year at a dutch festival :sunglasses:

Thanks to guesty44 and pv83 for the pics, a fine lot

Quite a few wagons parked up at the turbine pound Inverness Harbour, just arrived as this lot were leaving, chatting to the motorcycle patrolman, he said they were heading for Dava Moor.

Hiya,

That new Volvo certainly does look the part in the Mar Train color scheme, doesn’t it :sunglasses:, seems coupled to a new Broshuis trailer?

Cheers, Patrick

Due to the bank holiday, and the good weather, all the stuff worth seeing is being rolled out of the shed once again… :sunglasses:

And two proper Swedes to finish the day with…

Cheers, Patrick

Yes Patrick, a Broshuis, personally no experience or indeed knowledge of heavy haul, but the suspension on that particular trailer sure was complaining as it went by, not the smoothest of surfaces, but a lot of squeaky creaking, also noted tyres looked slightly under pressured, again after a few miles on tarmac and heating up this would pretty soon be compensated I guess. over to the experts.

Thanks to pv83 and servo88, another fine lot of pics

More from the Inverness wind turbine pound and a couple of Bolk maybe recognisable to you pv83.

Nice ones Oily!

I do indeed know some Bolk drivers, it’s a small world we operate in, nice blokes, always in for a word. Material is sublime as well, even the older wagons always look brand new like.
Don’t know to much about those new Broshuis trailers, only worked with Nooteboom and Floor trailers. But apperently those new types can take up 14t per axle…

Hi Oily, John Dickinsons the green Merc from down my way, he,s the only one to not let me take snap,s in his yard. { Mr Miserable }

I’ve been in their yard once to load a CAT dumptruck, lads who helped me were a nice bunch, but the guv… Rightly mr. Grumpy I reckon…
Didn’t take pics then, because of the terrible weather, was really pouring down like, but they’ve got a ERF using as a shunter, thought it was a EC11… anyone got pics of that?

Cheers, Patrick

Thanks to servo88 for the pics  and these thanks to Richard, snapped well away from the yard ban

Few random pics from Washington. Used to go past the army camp every day on the way to school. It all disappeared under the New Town. RCA built a record factory on the site and it is now a B&Q

These Daimler Scout Cars were also assembled at the Bamford’s Agricultural factory in Uttoxeter I think the bits were sent over from Coventry. They tested them up Buttermilk Hill near Newbourgh a village near Uttoxeter.I have a mate who was a evacuee and he worked there. He had a "Bobbys " when he went on Active service.VERY ACTIVE! and went to serve at Ingestree Hall on the transport unit and never went abroard and he lived in Doveridge a few miles away and Had a company Diamond T plus others. There was a farmer in Doveridge who wanted a tree stump moving so Des obliged with a military vehicle and out it came.
He’s 90 now but I will ask him a bit more about it as he used to go to schools to tell them his wartime capers
