Used to load marble in Carrera only the sliced up variety in to a tilt, of course no chance of that block sliding off the truck in your picture when lashed so securely by a steel wire as thick as your little finger (not) used to amaze me how lax they were when it came to load safety, they used to supply metal ark frames and lash the same way but I always had chains or straps (later on) for piece of mind especially when coming such a long way and usually over Mont Cenis in the summer, cheers Buzzer.

Cheers Larry thanks for that information, keep them golden oldies coming, regards servo88

Hi servo88, not for me, one step off terra fima is enough nowadays  climbing engages the mind but the bones don’t seem to get the message, well they do but they renege. During my lorry driving days, I absolutely loved it, a free spirit, I doubt if any of todays drivers could say that. If I got back to the yard with a couple or three hours of my day left and my next load(cars) was a night out, I would head off again, that’s why I preferred an artic to a wagon and drag, petticoat government ruled with some of the trailer mates and drivers as well. Great memories, as Larry says “the good old days” for me most definitely
Cheers for the fine pics you are posting.
