Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Retired Old ■■■■:
That sleeper’s quite a bit better than the nest box nailed to the back of an Atki!

well there’s your comparison,

DON’T REMIND ME!!! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Here are a couple of shots taken in 1975, I worked for Noyce Bros. from West Tytherly near Salisbury. At that time we moved countless loads of Elm which is what the trucks are loaded with, they all fell victim to Dutch Elm disease which swept the country at the time.
Loading was either with an AEC matador but they also ran a CAT 951 with grab which was quicker, remember tipping in Clumber Park with mining timber which was unloaded by a BM Volvo usually one grab emptied you, used to get digs just of Olerton roundabout, cheers Buzzer.

Nice couple of pics Buzzer

today in the north.

Some great shots there Bumper especially the first one which would need a fair bit of sheeting and roping when they finished loading.Judging by the nicely turned out 8 wheeler it would probably be an immaculate looking job when it was finished eh! Cheers Dennis.

Cracking old pics  bumper and Stanfield also thanks to Buzzer and Lawrence Dunbar

Lawrence’s photo I would say is a Leyland Martian, but appears to have V8 power  , where are the experts

A contrast and a lot less interesting a 15 plate at D R Macleod’s yard Inverness yesterday.
Oily

Kinda struck a chord the Martian and recalled this one that I’ve posted before, thanks to Len Rogers. This one SL which was Clackmananshire and the SY was Midlothian
Oily

Looks like the Perkins V8 engine in that. I remember a garage having one as a wrecker many years ago, it had the Rolls straight eight petrol fitted. Anyway it was out on a call and the driver stopped a pedestrian to ask the way, the chap pointed to a puddle of oil under the engine! Apparently it had chucked a con-rod out of the side of the crankcase but the driver hadn’t even noticed the engine running any differently! :unamused:

Here’s a bit of a mix of exhibits at the Air Museum next to Nissan Sunderland.
I visited for the first time yesterday   I took a lot of shots. It
was fascinating!! I will slip a few more in your thread Oily when no one
is looking ok? Some of them are even road vehicles. Regards Kev.

Well Oily the deed is done. Did my IAM test this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. Result below;

I reckon that makes us about even.
So come on, you heroes of the open road, who’s going to step up and do better that Oily or me?
