Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Oily
Do you just steal everyones pics & put them on your thread?

Hi tribsa, firstly I started a thread, but in no way do I consider it mine, secondly I have been collecting transport photos for quite a while. I recently had a warning that I was in breach of copyright with some of the stuff I was posting. I took that advice seriously and now only post pictures from those on the net who wish to share their stuff. I make sure that what I now post is permitted and with proper attribute.
Checkout Wikimedia Commons, FreeFoto, The Road Ranger Blog, Malta Bus and any others I may be downloading and sharing on here, I collect for my own pleasure and extend the permitted sharing to this site, hopefully for the interest of fellow members.

Hi Oily,

I for one eally enjoy viewing you photos, and long may they continue.

You do not receive any money for your time, and you must spend many hours sorting and finding photos- Thank you.

Also the number of people who contribute to this thread prove the popularity

best wishes
Carl

Keep them rolling Oily, Regards Larry.

Was that a night out ?

Hi Some agree with you but I dont so it will be another reason my thousands of pics wont get on here except for special reasons.
cheers Rich

Hi Rich.Just been reading through this post and I must say that I think most of us on this forum are guilty of putting pics on that belong to someone else(I know I have  although I have loads of my own) I personally dont mind if someone uses my pics on here because they are not making anything out of them but everyone gets the enjoyment of looking back and then this makes for great disscusions between ourselves. So come on mate lets see some of your pics.

Could you share with us what any of those “special reasons” might be? If you’ve got the hump with Oily that’s fair enough, that is your right, but many members enjoy looking at the stuff he posts, me included, he’s not doing it for personal gain and it would be our loss if he stopped. Just as it’s our loss that we won’t be able to see some of your thousands of pictures. Don’t be shy, show us some of yours.

Hi to all,
I take heart from the positive response to what I post, the cynic in me thought why do I bother, when jacking it in would give me at least a couple of hours daily to do something else. There are many lorry/truck blogs on the world wide web where image and text is on offer to one’s own collection or to share on websites similar to this one, but at no time for commercial gain.
I remain cynical towards those who decry my contribution and long enough in the tooth to understand the reason behind it.
Cheers to those who take pleasure from pictures that others and myself post on this thread.

This was photo was taken 1978 in Malta,I was speaking to the driver 7 he said they made a lot of their own from various vehicles, very interesting stuff , Regards Larry.

Never been to either but I get the impression that Malta is to old British lorries what Cuba is to old American cars.

Not just Cuba with the cars though, in 1965 I travelled from the small port of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil to the nearest town in a pre war American taxi. Pitch dark and no street lighting and half way along all the lights on the car failed. Without stopping the driver disappeared under the dash with a bit of pre-rolled cig packet silver paper and re-emerged, re-lit, just in time to avoid running off the road. :open_mouth:

When I was in Malta there were lots of old UK Motors still in use, Dodges like my own, Scammell 8 wheeler flats & tippers, I saw a KM.Bedford with a Leyland 680pp engine & lots of old mobile cranes, even an Ex Reeds from Newcastle, but sadley to say I cant find the photos of them, but Im still looking, Regards Larry.

Hi all
Couldn’t agree with you all more we love it all but most of the pics on here are now for sale & yes people are making profit out of our hobby.
Most of oilys are on the internet already so I dont see the point of moving them but perhaps Im old & grumppy.
Cheers Rich

They may be on the internet but I haven’t seen them before but I don’t really have much time on the pc to go browsing for things, so it’s nice that someone puts them together on here for all to see.
We’ll loose you off for being old and grumpy Rich , perhaps you’ve been reading carryfasts post too much
