That’s a long old wheelbase on this.

I wonder what payload you would have got with this. Fridge bodies are normally very heavy and the product lines they supply aren’t exactly light. Just wonder if it was worth the additional cost unless of course it was used for a particular delivery route that needed something slightly bigger/heavier than what they could get in a 4 wheeler.

What is the Dawsons 8 legger?

I could be wrong but it looks like an Armstrong Saurer, Austrian manufacturer who had a tie up with Armstrong Whitworth

Thanks to VALKYRIE for the photo and all the detailed info  Buzzer, Suedehead and mushroomman for the photos    .

Thanks for confirming Oily,
I can remember my Dad mentioning a company from Wolverhampton operating one but for the life of me cannot remember the companies name

Ribble had a fleet of Sentinels based at Carlisle for city services under a low bridge in Denton Holme plus two buse based at Bowness on Solway outstation for the 603 service to Carlisle, lightweight buses required due to crossing over the North British railway line to Silloth which had some weak bridges. This route was formerly operated using small Dennis Aces (Flying Pigs), the service has been running since about 1937 or earlier however it has just been announced by Stagecoach this week that the service will cease as from 1st June. There is much consternation among local users and walkers along the route of the Roman Wall which ends at Bowness. I knew two of the regular Bowness drivers in the days when they graduated Saro bodied Tiger Cubs. in the 1960s.

Buzzer:
LAST ONE FOR DIG

Now what do you call that DiG? Is it 2 semis with an A-frame in the middle. So an A/B triple?
2 more questions, is the 2nd crate loaded from the side or perhaps straight through, and err, what is the point? Perhaps local length limits?

Well if it did, it might be the reason because, believe it or not, there are one or two.
