Buzzer:
Its Wednesdays lot, 1st 3 for Dig in Oz, Buzzer

Thanks again Buzzer the seven trailer unit would have been like a big worm wriggling up the road my best effort was 5 loaded single deck trailers when I latched onto our other trucks 2 dogs when he had a problem. My prime mover was a Detroit powered Crusader,it was a struggle.

The 1418 Merc were quite popular her with owner drivers and did a good job in the long haul game, the first 8 Wheeler Volvo of that model I have seen looks the part.

Dig

I would like to say I had six behind the KW but there is a Mack prime mover hiding away in the middle.

It’s a long time since I saw anything quite so ridiculous as that Norwegian Scania ‘show boat’. There are low front ends and there are ridiculous front ends.
Why do they do it ? A working motor shouldn’t, IMO be blinged up like that, the driver will have to spend more time polishing than he/she will driving.
They should have a word with Harry Gill as to what a working motor should look like.

With respect GOM we are in a different era now, in years gone by most trucks as you say were basic working machines built to do the job with nought fancy about them but we have moved on, IMHO I do agree with you about the very low fronts especially in Norway as they have snow to contend with in the winter as well but looking at the rig the low loader trailer would not have a great deal of clearance and that Scania is probably on air all the way round so he can raise and lower according to the terrain he is on.
We once had a subby working for us with an ex Danish Scania and it was fitted with a gigantic fuel tank which had very little clearance and one day in Bridgewater he caught a curb backing in somewhere and split it, needless to say there was white gold flowing down the street and the fire brigade had to come out and deal with it so that was costly, Buzzer.

A few more, Buzzer

This is a circa '73 shot of a couple of Combines that we loaded ex Kilmarnock via our good pals J H Henderson & Sons they are standing at Milnthorpe en route to somewhere in East Anglia IIRC. So going by the model numbering how would they relate to the shot of the combine in action ? Cheers Dennis. PS belated congratulations John to you and the Family on achieving the 50 year “milestone” at Davies International ! You and The Boss don’t look a day over 30 something  , well at least the Boss doesn’t !!! :sunglasses:  Kind Regards to you both and wishing the two Lads all the best for the coming years. Cheers Dennis.

Nearly put Monday but its Tuesday of course, Buzzer

Thanks Buzzer congrats on the half century the second one should be easier.

Nice load of wool, that prime mover looks like a Dodge they were around in the 1970s with V6-53 series Detroits under the bonnet.

Dig

I drove a rigid dodge like that in the '70’s. It had the V8 petrol engine. It drank the juice but it was a flier.
