Sunday salve, Buzzer

Chris Webb:

Leyland600:
Hi Buzzer, I used to deliver flour from Silloth to the Cremola Custard factory on the south side of Glasgow around 1965-6, after getting unloaded I was usually asked “Hae ye goat ra lines fur ra floor driver” ■■ Parliamo Glesgae anyone. ?

“Have you got the notes for the flour driver”. That’s what I reckon

It roughly translates to “thank you for your timely and efficient delivery of these much desired ingredients sir. Without you and your fellow carters, thousands of families throughout this fair land would be distressed come meal-time. If you would like to complete the formal handover of the relevant documentation we can bid you farewell and wish you a safe journey to your next destination”

Very good, glad to see a bit of humour in these depressing times, Buzzer.

Pressed Steel Fisher had a large factory at Theale, Berkshire, (formerly Prestcold who made fridges until absorbed into BMC in 1966) I knew a few folk who worked there.
