Are all these really working vehicles? The low fronts on some of them make me wonder.

Thanks to lurpak, Lawrence Dunbar and Buzzer for the pics

I imagine the air is dumped from the front suspension and will lift up again once the engine is started. I specified all round air on my FH10 wagons and drags, needed in order to mount and demount demount bodies. Trailers were the same.

Do they lower automatically when the vehicle is parked like the old Citroen suspensions? If so what happens if you stop on rough, uneven ground with rocks sticking up? Any parts make contact?

Mine certainly didn’t, they would have to be physically lowered, but of course we never had need to lower them all the way, we just raised up to the max with the bodies on, dropped the legs, unhooked the twistlocks and returned to drive height. Never a need to go lower than that. Slight correction, we could lower carefully in order to get under a low bridge, but that was very rare.

I imagine the pictured ones are ‘posing’.

How would they get on a ro ro ferry? Not sure they have a better looking frontage than the older classic Globetrotters.

Congratulations on 700 pages Oily. Been given this photo from a mate it was his first proper HGV job. Pearson’s were a construction company and based at Middlesbrough and photo was taken in 1975 with a Priestman Mustang on the back ready to go up to the construction site at Kielder water.

Happy 700 pages Eddie. A bit of bright colour in the centre of Wigan yesterday, 14.12.2020.
About 1 hour later, I spotted this M.A.N. artic delivering to Aldi, Scot Lane, under a leaden sky.

Cheers, Ray.
