Bedford was the main tractor unit for Queen Marys but Commers were also used.
OilyAlso a few pulled by Crossleys. The Bedford-drawn one at East Kirkby had seats in the trailer and was giving rides to the public last time I was there. Don’t know whether it’s still there but there used to be a Queen Mary trailer used as a farmer’s bridge over Alconbury Brook, you could see it from the old A1. Front drawgear removed but wheels still on.

He sure is, His Grandad George Lowdon started up this family haulage & Bus Co a 100 yeras ago, Ive known the Lowdons a very long time I attened school with Davids late Dad Arthur who sadley passed away over two years ago, His dad Arthur & I were very good mates from day one, I lived at Seaton Burn in the 30s, My Dad was a miner & worked at Seaton Burn Pit, Lowdons sold Carbide for Miners pit lamps, I used to go there to fill up my Dads Tin that he took down the pit, They had a few Bedford Tippers that were used for local work , And then of course Opencast Coal Minning, Its nice to see that there is still some well run Haulage Cos, Still going, Regards Larry.
