When it comes to flamboyant trucks the yanks take a bit of beating, I photographed these specimens at the late Bill Richardson museum in Invercargill NZ in 2007. A fantastic museum great credit to Bill and his assistants however from all the wagons exhibited I think these ones would have won a beauty competition at the ugly bug ball. I would recommend a visit to anyone interested in old wagons.
Cheers Leyland 600.

Here you go plus a couple from me, Buzzer.

I love the 716 PFF van (probably Bedford); so uniquely British! Any idea where the picture was taken? Rather looks like France.

Bedford CA van and various conversions, 3spd steering column gear change later 4spd, draughty sliding doors and that one looks like it’s parked at Cheddar Gorge.

I never could understand the fashion for single windscreens, ok, they avoided a small blindspot in the centre, but to me that was far outweighed by the advantages. This was brought home to me one storm lashed night when driving home in my Mk 1 Atki. The passenger windscreen blew in with an explosive bang, but still, despite the wind and rain in the cab, enabled me to drive home in relative safety thanks to the clear view I still had through my screen of course swept by the remaining wiper.

Looks like a big improvement! Why did it took so long to change the situation there?

Hi Patrick, Lot of wrangling over many years, probably spent more money on consultants than that cost :unamused: A bridge across the valley was a consideration, the terrain and cost ruled that out. The attached link transport.gov.scot/media/35 … eport.pdfn
gives an insight into what was involved.
if that link doesn’t work try this

Ta for the link Oily

Does anyone on here knows more about this? Apart from this prototype, were their actually plans of putting out a MAN-based Pegaso range?

I believe this Hybrid TK has passed through a number of hands in it’s lifetime. I’m not 100% sure but it may have been new to Taits of Haydon Bridge before they became Volvo Dealers for a large area of the north of England and Southern Scotland. They were a decent firm to deal with and I bought a number of F88’s from them but matters took a downturn when Volvo Truck & Bus took Taits over ! Cheers Bewick.
