Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Looks a tadge heavy on the drive axle :stuck_out_tongue:

There you are, They look better now. Click for full image. Cheers, Ray.

Thanks Ray, I don’t know what I do wrong but sometimes the photo is the right way round & other times it’s at a jaunty angle.

windrush:
Pics are right way round when you click on them Robert. It’s good to see you are still working hard, I was getting worried that the ‘pension pot’ might be running short what with all these folk furloughed etc but with Dan and yourself hard at it I feel confident that I can now buy myself another van without getting a nasty letter from the bank! Keep up the good work. About time that MAN was pensioned of as well, it will be a ‘classic commercial’ soon. Get yourself a nice tipper at Breedon, Mr Fairbanks reckons it is brilliant there so it must be true!

Pete.

I only keep working to make your life easier Pete, unfortunately along the way some of my income tax gets diverted from keeping you in the lifestyle you’ve become accustomed to & instead it’s being used to support dole scrounging scum & idle layabouts, I really like getting up at 2.30am knowing my hard earned is being well used.

You can’t rely on Gavin contributing much to your pension now either, I spoke to him this week & he’s been put in full lockdown again by his daughter (I think he secretly nips out to the tobacco supply shop still)

I had to tow one of Breedon’s finest in last month from Swinderby but it wasn’t our lord of the manor Jim, this driver was called Gupta & was wearing a fancy head covering, as most of the Breedon/Cliffe Hill/Bardon/Ballidon/(other quarries are available) seem to be nowadays.

The MAN’s only just getting run in yet, I had a slight water leak develop at 5am on Wednesday morning on my way to Southampton but I kept topping it up & nursed it home, I found the leak out of a small hairline crack in the thermostat housing, luckily I had one in stock & fitted it that same afternoon, all ready for work again, like I said before, alot of dole wallers depend on me working hard.

Today’s mission was to meet up with Cannon Commercials from Newton Abbot & swap over a lorry they brought up from Cullompton. Unfortunately lorries don’t run very well when you put Ad Blue in the diesel tank then start the engine .I met up at Gloucester services with “The Undertaker” from Cannon’s fleet, “The Grim Reaper” & “The Swedish ■■■■■■” must have been out on other duties.

Here you go plus a couple from me, Buzzer.

Thanks Buzzer.

Couple from an old coachworks in Newcastle. GR Haugh were in St Mary’s Place. Long gone Tyneside

Taken in Sunderland, first one is Pickfords outside the Blue Bell Pub in Fulwell, think the load is a ships boiler. next one is a Vaux D series with the now demolished brewery in the background. Left of the photo is the magistrates court with a police Morris parked outside, probably delivering a few “customers” Tyneside

Thanks to 1970commer, Buzzer and tyneside for the pics    and in the tyneside photo the Pickford’s ■■■■■■ looks like a Humber Hawk and the tower wagon I’d say is a Saurer.

I can see the resemblance to a Saurer oily, but I think you’ll find the tower wagon is a Thornycroft, probably on a bus chassis.

I thought I knew most of the Vaux fleet but have never seen this one before. I have googled Labatts trucks and there is quite few photos of them from the USA. Think they were White Streamline trucks. Not sure if this is an actual White or a copy based on UK chassis. Tyneside

How embarrassed would you be having to drive that cartoon around?

Not even practical, you wouldn’t get many beer crates in that trailer. :unamused:
