Maybe one for JD?? Were (3 artics) in Leeds for 4 days next week (from Monday). Im wondering as we cant park at the gig, is there any truck parking in the city centre of Leeds or close to it, even a bus station that would accept trucks? Cost is irrelevant, as the production on the tour will pay . Weve been told we’ve got to go to Whitwood truckstop. We need to be able to get to the gig in the centre every day so Whitwood is a bit out of the way.
A few of us used to park at Elland road football ground. There was a pub directly opposite, but this was 5 or 6 years ago, dunno if you still can though.

Well Carlos , being a Leeds lad myself I can tell you right now you’ll struggle to park anywhere within walking distance of the city centre
but I can certainly get you closer than Whitwood
which is at least 10 miles
away.
If you’re wanting food and a pub nearby then I suggest the industrial estate behind the cinema complex on Kirkstall Rd, HERE. Either park somewhere where the arrow is or on Evanston Avenue which is a nice quiet dead-end road next to the council tip. You’ve got the cinema complex, McDonalds, a pub, a curry house and a newsagents all within spitting distance on Kirkstall Rd and if you walk under the railway viaduct and continue on the main road you’ll be in the city centre after 15 mins walk. You’ve also got a 24hr Shell garage just the other side of the viaduct too.
To get there from the M62, come off on to the M1 north, stay in lanes 3 or 4 when the motorway opens in to 5 lanes and follow M621 signs for Leeds centre. Keep following it round, changing lanes where necessary until you get to J2 and come off there down the slip ramp. Right turn at the roundabout onto the dual carriageway, through the tunnel and follow it til you come to a set of lights under a railway bridge. Get in middle lane as youi enter the big roundabout and follow it round, following signs for A65 & the airport. As your lane feeds you off the rbt you’ll go round a tight left bend and under another railway bridge and then shortly after the road splits into 3 lanes - get in the n/s lane as quick as you can coz it doesn’t last long and it drops down to a set of lights with TGI Fridays casino on your left. Stay in nearside lane and follow it round to the left and then you’re on the A65. Just stay on that road for about a mile and you’ll see the viaduct in front of you after the next set of major lights with the Shell garage on the left. The industrial estate and cinema complex is on your left just after the viaduct.

Pretty sure it’s all gated off now and height barriers everywhere.
Sign of the times Rob, sign of the times. good enough to fill their supermarkets and fuel stations up, but the NIMBY mentality strikes again.
Rob K is your man Kindle, did you read the posts on Whitwood, didn’t get a very good write up at all.
Decent night out in the city centre, especially if you have 4 days to kill, what do you do when you’re parked for that long? Doesn’t it drive you up the wall?
dont know much about that place of robs … i know where it is but dont know about parking there.
also park in longs of leeds trailer park they have showers and walking distance to pubs and takeaways at crossgates also buses into town and shops.
you can park behind freightliner but there are no showers but again short walk to pubs and buses.
if you park at whitwood but theres nothing there apart from the truckstop.
let me know where you are and when il come down for a few beers.
i would park behind freightliner theres plenty of space for 4 lorrys but like i said no showers.
Stupid suggestion Alex/Rob,but what about Bedfords yard?
They have a shower, and the Pheasant pub is just at the top of the road, and the cafe is just around the corner.
A 10 minute taxi ride will get you into the centre.
As they let the likes of Taylors, and others stay there,I can’t see why not if Webbo gives the ok,and there’s the odd free ticket thrown in.
Ken.
Ayup, just spoken to a mate whos Stage Manager in Leeds, asking whats possible in city.It seems hes already spoken to someone at your lot with the offer to park units only on the loading ramp for the show.Any way hope you get sorted, maybe Ill call in if Im in the city.Ask for Big Al,stage manager and tell him Joe says to look after you,and enjoy the new Wagon lift, probably the highest you ever unloaded. Cheers Joe. p.s. done many a get in at The Grande,a good bunch of lads.
as it happens what gig is it
just checked forget it.

i was thinking about birstal i know wagons park behing ikea but not 3 of them but bedfords would be a good one as well.
i was thinking today about somewhere but unless its a transport company off some size with a big yard then whitwood, bedfords or longs would be your best bet due to the fact of there being 3 off you.
Thanks for all the replies, i have passed all the info on which is a s much as i can do, will have to wait and see where were going to be, we can stay in Manchester tonight, so prob end up poodling over Sunday teatime. And i will have to get some pictures of the load in, as sweetleaf said, the truck goes up on a big lift. Sounds interesting!!
Is there still some parking around Hunslet where John Wyatts place is. Have spent many a night in those pubs around there. Mind you If you are working during the day, it is maybe not ideal

I was thinking same thing initially, assuming you mean round the back of Costco’s, but it’s not the kind of area where you want to park up with expensive gear in the back of your trailer and also there’s nothing in that area except for some industrial units.
Can’t see Webbo letting anyone park up in the yard for 4 days and anyway it’s no closer to Leeds than Whitwood is and Long’s yard is in the middle of nowhere, at least 4 miles from Leeds centre and Carl did specifically ask to be as close to the city centre as poss.

not really rob cos a 5 mins walk its straight into crossgates for the pubs, takeaways, train and buses plus its 10 mins down the A64 to grand theatre the most direct route.
also the trailer park is big enough to hide 3 trucks in for 4 days without getting disturbed.
