Parking at caen port

Hi, can you still park on Caen docks when you get off of the boat ?

Yes I Believe so, just make sure you park away from the guys transferring the fish.

No prob at Caen

Do it regularly

Steve

There is no port in Caen.It is Ouistreham port which is 12 miles from Caen.
No problem parking.Have a meal at Au Coin de Port Rouitiers restaurant.Do the laundry in town.
Chill out and relax.
Moules Marriniers avec frites.Mussels and chips.
Washed down with a chilled Chablis or Muscadet.
What else do you want?

Great combination that especially with some bread dunked into it that’s a favourite lunchtime tipple for me on holiday never quite taste the same when replicated at home. :frowning:

BB,let’s not forget the tripe and the cassoulet.White beans in a rich red sauce with meat and potatoes.A real winter warmer.
The strong apple liquer Calvados.
On the bar counter at the Rouitiers in Ouistreham, the owner used to have two dogs that would sleep there.
New owners now. There was the pretty blonde that worked in the cafe inside the Brittany Ferries terminal. All the drivers chatting her up,but it got no further than that.

Wagonlad, if you have some time off,the bus runs from the terminal to Caen.
Or there is a long river side walk that takes you past the Pegasus bridge. The cafe is still there. The original bridge has bullet holes in it and last time i was there you could see it in a transport yard.
Or a bus to the coastal towns heading East.
Le Touquet is where wealthy Parisians holiday and have homes.
Hollywood stars have been seen there.

Or if Tobes puts a word in you may even be able to sup with the mayor & use his swimming pool!

Lovely cheers lads, just need to park when off of the boat for the night. No time for sight seeing unfortunately although I would be interested in that bridge.

There is the replica of Pegasus bridge which is in use.If walking exit the terminal and with the estuary or river on your left, walk towards Ouistreham and bear left to cross over the river.
There is a tarmaced path that cyclists and walkers use.
Keep going and you will see the replica bridge.Have a look for the original bridge, unless they have moved it.
In the Second World war,the metal plates under the cockpit were too heavy for the gliders that landed there.
The pilots were not told so the calculations were not accurate.
Officers wanted to protect themselves from shell fire and gun fire.

Cherbourg is no problem in the freight area.
Customs may ask to see the CMR after leaving the ferry.
Police check passports.
Big shopping mall at the top of the steep hill at Cherbourg.
A Rouitier restuarant on top the hill.
Supermarket in town.
