Morning folks, I’m going to be empty later on at Exeter and I’ll have 32 empty Euro pallets that I’m somewhat keen to convert to beer tokens. My reload is at Avonmouth so I’d be grateful if anybody could point me in the direction of a pallet yard not too far off the beaten track between the two. Thank you.
There’s a pallet man on Exeter services , and a pallet yard at highbridge , think it’s on the estate where Keedwells is at the side of the M5
Yep, go in Exeter Services and there should be a flatbed trailer with pallets on, as you go around near the exit. Man should be sitting in van there.
Cheers guys, the beers are on me

Surely that should be “The beers will be IN me”
And what do you get for a pallet nowadays? Been a lot of years since I sold any.
For a euro you’re looking somewhere between £2 and £3.50 depending on condition.
Chap at Exeter services “are you local?” Me “no, why?” Him “I’ve got no cash but I could owe you it” me “be seeing you”
Highbridge it is then!
I’m sure he would have posted it on to you…all these pallet dealers look like fine, upstanding chaps to me. Is there no trust these days…?

Like the pallet man will have a bank account ■■
I used to love places that said do you know anywhere that takes away pallets at a reasonable price ?
Was it daft of me not to charge them for the service ?
40+ good condition standard pallets every couple of weeks paid for lots of breakfasts !

You probably had too many pallets!
He’s there every weekday and works for Scott Timber.
Never take too many to one place they usually seem to have a max budget.
was always a good source for my beer money years ago, always happy when I got to a place with a couple of pallets, and they turned around and said sorry drive its handball, went to a place one day and the forklift driver was complaining, there was not much room with all these empty pallets all over the place, so I informed him my boss was always on the lookout for empty pallets, and he loaded 25 on my truck, called into pallet yard on my way home, great days.
For those of you that value the worth of these pallets, this will make you cringe.
Whilst on agency was driving back to a depot and saw plumes of smoke in the distance. Thought to myself, ■■■■ the place is on fire!!
When I got back there , no fire, but the drivers and yard employees were running around like headless chickens. Went into debrief and one almighty row was going off.
Happens that the new manager decided to do a clean up operation to clear the yard and decided to burn all the non-Euro/CHEP pallets that he thought had no value round the back of the warehouse.
He didn’t realize that they were stored and then sold off through the year …
to fund the staff Christmas bash!
You could have gone into scott pallets on iron church road, near e w gardners site, i have been informed they buy them . Out of interest tho, how did you get on with shifting them?

Ended up at the one you can see from the M5 at highbridge next door to Keedwells yard. £2.20 per pallet, not the best price, but not the worst I’ve seen either.

Oops, sorry robroy, just realised i didn’t write the actual area it is in avonmouth, as you come off the m5 into avonmouth, head towards st. Andrews road, the one with the coldstore on, go straight up there, thru the traffic lights until the road bends to the right, on that bend there is a left hand turn with a volvo dealers on the corner, take that and they are just down there inbetween sims metals and ew gardners
