Paid min 8 hours, only 4 hours work

For WTD purposes…

If you do a ‘spare duty’ where if there is no work you are sent home after 4 hours, but in the contract it is agreed that you would be paid for the minimum 8 hours

If they use 8 hours for WTD when on a paid statutory holiday, would it be correct to say that 8 hours would be used for WTD in the scenario of only doing 4 hours work ?

As far as I am aware and feel free to correct me, WTD is what you work and not what you get paid,

We often get paid more than what we work as a favour for helping out, The way I see it is that if they want to pay you more hours than you worked then so be it, you either see and extra 4 hours in the wage or £60 bonus, whichever way they pay it.

If you do a four hour shift then it’s four hours that counts for the working time regulations, it makes no difference how many hours you’re paid for.

edit: To add that the whole four hours only count for the working time regulations if the whole four hours is booked as working time ie driving or other work, any time that was booked as break or POA doesn’t count towards the working time.

thanks guys
