Accidents happen, I’m pretty sure he didn’t go out today with the intention of having a bump today

After all London isn’t the easiest place to drive in the world.

Accidents do not happen if you know the size of your vehicle and how to negotiate corners properly.I drove in London for years but never did anything like that.Any decent driver will be able to look at a tight situation and know whether he can get round or not.If in doubt DO NOT TRY or get a guide.

Ok Mr perfect, if you have the balls to one day post about any bad luck you have, I will remind you of this! I look forward to the day of your misfortune, what a pathetic comment that “accidents do not happen”

You’re probably the type of driver who refuses to go to London and will only do straight trunks, that’s if you even have a HGV entitlement.

That accident was not bad luck.It was poor judgement but maybe as an inexperienced driver you think that sort of thing is acceptable?
I refuse to go to London and will only do straight trunks but do not have an HGV licence.Dear Dear you do not have a clue about much. You will learn.(maybe)

Ok Mr Perfect, you still didn’t refute my claim, where you off to tomorrow? Trafford Park?

Also when did I mention anything about being unlucky, it’s obvious it was bad driving, what I’m saying is it can happen to anyone, usually those who think it won’t happen to them.

He probably swung out to miss the merc on the nearside and forgot about the swing.

Lorry driving can be very stressful, especially if he had got lost, gone off route or was running out of time and had to stop for a wtd or rta break without getting a ticket…

As for p45 I doubt it. Final written warning, gross misconduct or tea and biscuits but possibly not the sack…

He is perfect. No point in replying to it. Just like his topic about pointless and stupid posts. Fine example of one now.

The driver was making his way down that road to make a delivery to some builders who were working down there.

If you check out Kensington Square on Streetview, you can see that the Jaguar which has been mentioned wasn’t parked illegally. The road just isn’t really suitable for an artic with parking bays on either side & it’s a maze of one way streets around there so I suspect he was struggling to get where he wanted to be and probably slightly stressed as a result. We’ve all been there and it’s just one of those things he’s knocked something, for all we know that could be the first bump of his career - just too bad it happened to be a headline grabbing Ferrari with a brittle plastic body & someone felt the need to take photos.

Bumps happen to even the best at some point or another, it’s just a reality of the job where we are sent to places with unideal access.

Na, sorry, I appreciate we all have off days but denting a Ferrari just isn’t cricket.

Mr perfect with his rose tinted glasses strikes again

rob22888:
someone felt the need to take photos.

It happened just round the corner from the Daily Mail H.Q…

When I used to drive around London, I sometimes had to miss deliveries out as I just couldn’t access them. The ‘units’ under some railway arches was a classic one. Then would come the interaction with the traffic office and the customer which would eventually result in the customer asking the traffic office why they has sent such a large vehicle. I used to carry a lot of bright steel and machinery so handballing from up the road was simply not an option.

An artic can be a real liability in a place with poor access. The traffic office will always lay the blame on the driver though, when things go wrong.

In the drivers defence I used to deliver aluminium profiles and if you ended up with a multi drop in London the places you had to get with an artic were a joke it got that bad I refused to do 2 drops ,one was a bloke working from a shed where you wouldn’t of got a 7.5 tonner and the other a double glazing shop on a busy corner of clapham.
Needless to say the office couldn’t see my point of view.
Really is about time something was done about artics going to unsuitable places…
Generally I didn’t mind a bit of London now and then but the thought of them multi drops round there again makes me feel sick…

Agreed with that.
Main routes should be ok for normal size artics, anything other than that it should be a 10mt urban trailer to give a driver a chance. and to top it a max height for all trailers not the 16’5 current for some bridge heights

Hang on a minute.Roads that are unsuitable for heavy vehicles are already marked.Artics have been driving round London for years and most do not have a problem.
A lot of the problem is caused by badly parked vehicles and not the fact the road is not suitable although in this case it appears to be poor judgement by the driver. We can all make mistakes but for sure some make far more than others.
I am sure most drivers can look at a corner and decide whether there is enough room to make the turn.As I said before if in doubt do not make the turn.
I think we need separate roads for incompetent drivers. That would surely make more sense.
Why do some want to make excuses for poor driving?

“No arrests were made” — I should f—ing think not! A lorry clipped a parked car --big deal, only made the paper because it was a Ferrari. Happened all the time when I lived and worked in London, inevitable when big motors mix with parked cars in narrow overcrowded streets, and they’re even more crowded now than then. Mind you, when I lived there the parked cars were mainly family saloons belonging to ordinary indigenous Londoners. I live out in the sticks now, avoid the smoke like the plague, hate the sight of it!

Theres been a solution in place for many years. It’s called having professional drivers who know when something can and can’t be done. When it can’t be done, they phone their company and tell them it can’t be done instead of allowing some little office planner to bully them into doing it.

To be fair, by the looks of it there was a parking suspension in force! Ouch!

I was just about to say that too. If you check this picture http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/03/10/article-2577530-1C2C6E6400000578-795_964x798.jpg there looks to be a sign saying “Parking Suspended”■■

Not quite in between the lines ehh
