Just dont wack it straight on POA when you get somewhere you will have to wait, you are ment to be told off whoever will be tipping you how long you will have to wait so you can know in advance how long you will be.

Change So You to Unless
And you will be probably be told off if you are late
Already correctly mentioned though, that POA and Break doesn’t count towards working time for the RTD
Some reading matter

Perhaps add a manual entry during cold weather to the effect that you needed the engine on to keep warm - then see how that sits.
If you use POA the digi card will reset the driving time but doesn’t record a break which could see you go over your driving hours so you will have to keep a written record of how much driving you have done which negates one of the advantages of the bloody thing! I don’t use POA at all just use rest, there is really no advantage to using POA and can certainly be a disadvantage to using it.

The advantage to using POA, 44 Tonne Ton, is that you are paid for waiting time. My company only pay me for the first thirty minutes of my break. So if I put it on break for two hours, I’d be one and a half hours out of pocket. However, they have to pay POA so I get paid for the two hours and extend my working time.
Someone mentioned not putting it on POA immediately, as you have to be informed of the delay. This is true. However, if you know before you arrive there will be a delay, i.e. early for booking time, or do a regular drop and know there is always a delay, then it’s ok to put it straight on POA.
Best thing to do is read all the official, legal information and make POA work for you.
POA works fine with the engine running, it will switch to Other Work if you’re using a PTO though.
Why would you have the engine running if you’re sat on POA anyway? Surely if you want to keep warm you use the night heater? Unless you drive a crap rigid without one.

Or a day cab…
Do you have to write the reason for the delay on a timesheet for it to count? I don’t bother but I’ve been told by some you’re meant to?

No, you can record everything on a digital tachograph, the only stipulation is that the driver records must be kept for two years instead of one.
Unless you are paid for POA forget it and use break.
I think it depends on the company you work for if you record it on a timesheet, a diary always comes in handy anyway if the ■■■■ hits the fan and you have a record.
No one has been prosecuted for exceeding the RTD yet, or have they?

POA only works for you Mike because they’re paying you to use it which is a new one on me! No advantage whatsoever to me.
I use the POA mode to record “beverage time” ie; let another driver pass me and then unfortunately, they get the last load and I get to wash down while I wait for tomorrows’ work schedule to be faxed over. Funny how most of my waiting time happens on shi**y jobs or when the traffic’s bad…
