ive never used it before ,so how does this sit
i had a collection which i got too at 5.15 a.m,i then asked loader if it was ready,if not how long, said no idea, get your head down and we will knock you when were ready to load you,so puts its on break and zzzzzzz,9 a.m i get knock as ready to load,so onto other work and load up,then leave[this is how ive always done it and no problems.
mate is now saying you cant do it,he did the same and was dragged in office and asked why hed had 3+ hrs break,he explained load wasnt ready,so put it on break and went to sleep, apparently it flags up as a RED on some checking system, too much break, hes now been told he must only have 50 mins break, the rest has to be p.o.a [p.o.a apparently flags up blue which is o.k],i really cant see what the difference is between 3+ hrs on break,or 50 mins break/rest p.oa[i thought you had to know in advance how long wait was to use p.o.a]as youre still there for 3 + hrs whichever you use.
as ive done said job 2 times this week i expect ill have to visit office x2 ,so id like to know how you stand, there not giving bollocking for being there 3+ hrs, they know hy your there, there saying they dont want it flagging up red, just 50 mins break+p.o.a and a blue flag and there happy.
its not a big deal but ive never used/needed to use p.o.a so if i dont have to id rather not,but if companys can insist ill have too.
n.b never been a issue in past, its just this thing that keeps flagging up red thats causing the problems. thanks
that could be why mine flags up red on our tachoodisk softwear system …having to much break sa i know i havent gone over my drive time or cut breaks /rest short . but u could argue the fact that as youve had 3hrs plus its a split daily rest …but other than that i carnt help
There is no such thing as too much break and having 3 hours+ during a shift is certainly not an infringement, in fact it is the only way to use the split daily rest option. Doesn’t matter what colour the software marks it, it isn’t an offence.
Just tell them you weren’t told how long it was going to be so you couldn’t book POA.
Until I started double manning recently, where I have no option but to book POA while my card is in slot 2 I had never booked POA. If I stop double manning i will go back to never booking POA. If a period qualifies as POA it certainly qualifies as break because the requirements are less for break than POA.
When you ask the loader how long and he says ‘‘dont know’’ tell him just to guess any figure. There you go everything is legal you can be there for 1 minute or 15 hours on poa.
We have some monster poa users in my depot all so they can get more overtime, i use about 200-300 minutes a week average and never get a time of loaders i always base it on previous history.
