Ok, it’s like this…
Yep, traditionally boundaries inevitably get pushed, and that has to be borne in mind when guidelines and rules are set.
So in the same way that most people do 80 in a 70 limit, so most people will see that they can say…let me pick an example…“Crap”, and therefore push it and try and say ■■■■. That’s the basis we’ve set the rules on.
We’ve been at this for a very long time now, and have been tinkering around the edges for while, especially as some words which were downright offensive when we started 8 years ago - eg. crap, ■■■■, ■■■■■■■■ - are now acceptable in the mainstream print media. The censor changes as society changes…and it’s always set bearing in mind that we can’t watch the boards 24/7 and some stuff will always be on display before a Mod gets to it, so we assume those temporarily “missed” words will be one “notch” worse than what is allowed. If we allowed another “notch” worse, the missed stuff would be truly awful…And so on.
It’s a difficult line to draw, but we do try to keep it clear. All we ask is that you guys respect it. The simplest way to do that is to type whatever the ■■■■ you like (See what I did there? Hit “Quote” and it SHOULD show you, IIRC…) and either the censor will allow it through or it won’t. Creative spelling just creates work, after all. Which makes for ratty volunteer staff. Which leads to the “Pathetic” thread also in this forum.
I’m not sure that I’ve explained that very well…Hope it makes sense!

So: crap = good
“Polish guy” = bad.
Thanks a lot
Can I sue you?
