Owner drivers to get experience?

newby c class no experience.

just wondered if anyone thinks it’s worth hiring a 7.5 tonner to get experience, would i still have the same problems in getting work or would it be worth a try. if anyone has tried it please let me know wether you would recommend it or not.

i have registered with as many agencies as i can but most have said i need to at least have used my licence before i will get any work.

any tips welcomed claire

You would possibly need an operator cpc - A level exam - GIT insurance and know where to get contract work to pay for it - does it still seem a good idea

well i am studing for the operators cpc as i need it for my sterling course so if all else fails then it might give me a second option…or possibly a last one!

Then the question is - is there enough work out there for a self employed driver using a 7.5 tonner to make it financially viable

i think may be i will shelve this idea, but it was worth checking out anyway… thank you rog x x

There will be an opening somewhere - just a case of being in the right place at the right time in a lot of cases - keep in touch with all your contacts and make sure they are ‘keeping their eyes and ears open’
