just wondering if this is allowed by vosa. Ive a flatbed and need to carry two pallets side by side, pallets are 4ft each, the flatbed is 7ft 6 which would mean a overhang of 3.5 inches on each side. It would be strapped etc but would it be acceptable in the eyes of the law?
3½" (89mm) overhang either side of a 7’ 6" bed is legal as long as the pallets are correctly secured.
Thanks tachograph, that’s brilliant. I was placing them down the middle of the flatbed and the straps were arched rather than square. Its 25kg bags of barley with 40 per pallet, I usually stop every ten miles and retighten straps as the barley keeps settling, on numerous occasions a pallet has started to slope to the side, putting it side by side will make it more secure.
