Its been years ( 2006 in fact ) since i drove a class 1 in Europe, Please refresh my memory as to if you still have to pay road tax as you enter France ( or wherever ) and if so how you go about it?

You can but a vignette online www.eurovignettes.eu . France has it’s own tolls as per before but Belgium now has a toll system and is not covered by the vignette. Germany has the Maut system which can also be bought online
France, Spain, Portugal, Italy - No road tax, just pay tolls on motorways
Belgium, Austria - Toll box required which you can buy at border
Germany - Toll required for every journey, which you buy from machine at services
Netherlands, Luxemburg, Denmark, Sweden - Eurovignette required, which you can buy online
