Out of Hours asking to be picked up?

Hi

If your down the road from your place of work and your running out of hours and you phone up to ask to be collected are they legally obliged to pick you up?

It only as I was told that if I say “I’m out of hour I want picking up” they have to do so?

Dose anyone know if this is true?

Thanks

There’s no law that I know of that says a company has to arrange for you to be picked up, if you’re going to run out of hours you have about three choices 1) arrange to be picked up 2) have a night out 3) park the vehicle and make your own way home.

Unless there’s something in your contract that says the company will pick you up (which is unlikely) then they don’t have to.

If you have run out of duty time then they can’t legally pick you up anyway so the answer to your question is no.

Oh well I was kind of hopping it would be true but seems not :frowning: , as there are days when it could be useful.

Thanks anyway

What if you were in a day cab, no O/N gear etc as there had been a problem?

Makes no difference, we all know that in the real world we’re be going home, but legally you’d have to have a night out in b&b or where-ever.
