Our lives so far in Canada

You can enjoy watching the beavers for now, Ria, and when they start chewing the trees down in your yard I will come and get rid of them for you. I’ll bring a 22 instead of the 30-06. That way they will still be salvageable. We’ll boil the meat for a day then put it on your nice gas barbie. Supposed to be pretty good if you boil the fat off first. Really greasy if you don’t.

See! That winter roads work was very educational! Those folks up North will eat anything. If the bears start raiding your garbage cans then you can eat them. I eat garbage food, just not food fed on garbage!

Just in case you thought I was kidding!

well we are going offline now god knows when we will be back, as for killing my beavers sorry i am an animal lover not an animal killer. besides they chew someone elses trees not ours, we need them to keep the water levels up,so we can go fishing and swimming.
see ya all

Think carefully about what you are doing. You are giving up a slick broadband connection just to go and live in the real world. Come back & plug in before its too late!!

They should be able to get the connection again fairly quickly, Harry. I get it here without trouble and they aren’t that far away.

As for the beavers, they may be eating someone elses trees now but they have a habit of changing their minds. Wait till summer. The creek will get pretty low if last year is anything to go by. The beavers will start getting fussy then. And you may, of course, get a skunk move into the area. Bet you won’t love them if your dog finds them.

Do they ever stink!!!

OH NO, i can hear Mrs R now, go on Rover, go play with your new pal :open_mouth:

And I can picture Ron with the tomato juice and hosepipe, then I can see him building a kennel big enough for him to share.

Oi!!! Enough of this ;Where’s those snaps of the Rockies?? I think the public has a right to know!!

There are a few on here, Harry. Along with some from the Mojave, and from Italia.

hey i can get on the internet and check what your all on about at big freight,i have been told that frebreeze is good to get rid of the smell of the skunks, told to me by a man whose dog was forever killing the smelly little blighters.
as for the phone line, it’s like getting blood out of a stone, they don’t know about our address :unamused: so we could be without phone or internet for a while.
well off to winnipeg now speak soon.
mrs rocket

hi folks i’m back but don’t expect a lot of postngs from me cos this dial up is verrrrry sloooooowwww!!!

i sure appreciate they are huge saw a few when i was in vancouver afew years back of course i was thinking from a safe distance, i’ll leave it with ya

hi all
just on here for a bit this dial up is doing my head in.
well we are still enjoying life here in canada, being attacked by mossies.
we had a bear in the garden the other week, but it went too quick before we could get the camera on it( well my sister took it’s pic, but the flash reflected on the window and by the time she got out the front, the dogs barking scared it off, it was either that or her singing hahahahaha)
we had a bad thunderstorm last sunday and all the electricity went out, so it was like being back in the olden days
Looking forward to the kids finishing for summer hols, then we can go out and have a good look at places, the eldest lad is going out with his dad in the truck,he is looking forward to that.
well i think that is it for now,i will keep you informed of our adventures in the summer.
see ya
mrs rocket

You are leading a full life.Would you swap it for broadband…?

nope, the dial up does my head in but you can’t beat this life and all the wildlife.
well cleaned out my chicken coop yesterday, just have to get some chickens now,a couple of ducks i’ll be sorted. oh and our goat to go in the paddock.
AH life is good
take care all
mrs rocket

I’ll pay a visit when its branding time for the rabbits!!

Hi All
Just a quick one to say hi and let you know the latest goings on here in Canada(with us anyway).
Well we finally got our letter to send our passports back to get our Permenent Residency
The only thing is Ron can’t go to America for a while,he is over in Alberta at the mo with the eldest lad, they’re both like the cat who got the cream,Ron cos he got a new truck(company one,not that rich yet   )Kieron cos he is going on his travels with Dad.

We have a bear who comes in the garden nearly every day,he/she(haven’t got that close to check what it is  )just comes strolling through flops down and starts eating the sunflower seeds that have fallen from the bird feeders, then the dogs usually ruin it and start barking so the bear runs off, sometimes down to the creek for a swim then comes back for some more seeds, We don’t have a problem with it,some people would rather they didn’t come on their land, but hey they where here before us and they do no harm to anyone so just let them be,so they might break a bird feeder, but you can always buy a new one(or make one out of a milk bottle,Plastic of course)

Well that’s all for now
take care everyone
mrs rocket

The bears scent does tend to keep away some of the less desirable critters  But I wouldn’t get to close :open_mouth: (black bear I am guessing not a griz  )

We had one become a regular visitor but he got kinda comfy and eventually I could drive the truck (dodge ram diesel) within 5 feet of him on the driveway and he would just look at me :open_mouth:

FYI get a bear proof garbage can or a big lock for your regular one or you’ll not only be picking garbage up every day but the poor fella might eat something that does for him.

Will try to find a piccy of ours (nicknamed Berty by the missus :unamused: )
