Didn’t the have orange F89’s. I’ve got some pics somewhere that I’ve found on the net. I’d love to see some more photos.

That pic would be of Kenny Searle.
What’s he doing now?

Hi all.In April 1975 there was an article in Truck mag which was about the first M.E. trip Phil Llewellyn done which was with an Oryx Freight truck going to Kuwait driven by Pat Hawkes.I ran together with him from Kapic through to the Mirrors via Syia,Jordan and H4.I put something about it yonks ago on a thread[can’t remember where, sorry].Hopefully someone should have the article which they can scan.I have a copy of the article obtained from Truck mag but have no scannner.I also think that Ash and someone else has photos as i have seen some on threads.
Also Chris Bolt worked for Oryx, maybe his son has some photos which could be obtained.Mike

It’s pictures of Oryx you want is it? Well here’s a few.

A very youthfull me with GKO at the depot in Oostende.

And here is derek Greenaway who did a trip with me that was the first time he had ever been out of Devon.

He ended up getting shanghaied by Micky Fitzell in Doha to drive this Daf home that a subby has dumped.

This is Ian Johnson who’s Daddy was a Ministry Man in Kent. Nice cardie!

Parked-up in the snow near Prague. The blue Volvo behind me was Pat Seale when he worked for Alan Altug.

Butch Levets double drive undergoing a service break. The Mercedes peeking out behind was Gerry Wheelan

Playing in the sand on the H4 crossing between Jordan and Saudi.

GKO in Turkey with regulation Tonka

Conversation in the desert. Remember sitting on the briefcase or the towpin bucket?

It’s a party! The Scania was one of the leftovers in the transition from J&T to Oryx. If I remember right the driver was Chris Bolt

A sad one. This was Brian Lambs truck coming home after he died on H4

Another sad one - if you ever had to drive one of the dreadful things. One of the Oshkosh desert tractors that were purchased to tow trailers down to the Emerates in the years before the road.

I’ll see what else I can find.

This is Kenny Searle Jamie; It’s his photo which he gave to me a good few years ago, when I interviewed him for my astran book. Sadly I cannot get hold of Kenny and have been trying relentlessly, but now have given up. Phone number dead, written to his address but no reply… Last I heard, he was working on “security” in Iraq! Just hope he’s “still with us”

The picture of Ken is one of mine and I am quite happy about it getting posted. As Ash says we are trying to find Ken.

The gold coloured Scania in the middle of the line up,is surely the one on the front of the wonderful book,‘Transorient’.

It was indeed, Davnic, and it’s driver of many years was my cousin Jimmy Cadwallader.
