Hi, I’m wracking my brains to try and remember the make of the big yellow, bonnetted recovery truck that used to operate out of Oliver Rix in Saltney, I thought it might have been a Leyland but I’m not sure.
Can anyone help■■?
Cheers

I last saw the Oliver Rix Garages one in the late 70s/early 80s. Having looked at photos it could have been a Super Hippo but not the one belonging to Tom Carruthers.
Hi Ricko, I served my time at Oliver Rix from '77 to ‘82. The recovery lorry your thinking of was an ex army 6 x 6 Albion. It was an awesome machine. I can’t remember what engine was in it but I know it wasn’t a Gardner. They also had a Foden swb 8 wheeler with a Gardner 150 in it & an ex fuel tanker Atki’ Mk 1 with a Gardner 150 in it, both with recovery gear on them. In about 1980 Oliver Rix were taken over by Hatfield Manchester & the Albion was sold. The other 2 were painted yellow & had their grille badges removed because we were Leyland agents, I still have both badges.
