Hi Derbyshire Foden, Just come across this thread, so connecting with your pic, here’s another, taken on the A9 at Cromarty Firth Bridge, I was given the nod that Les would be in my area on a given day and approx. time, on his way to Caithness.
Cheers
Oily

Not really wagons, but…

This must’ve done nearly 1000000km by now and showing it. Awful thing to drive with wobbly steering (the steering box is clapped out). I drove it shortly before I left in late August, and the prop shaft bent in two places. We were advised to “let it develop” (finish the deliveries) which I did by constantly raising the lift axle to stop the constant “thump thump” as the prop spun. Probably did more damage but we got around. Cost about £5k to fix (would’ve been better to weigh the heap of junk in for scrap…

the cotswald flour millers deliver up our way in ■■■■■■■ regularly, looks like a hard graft job unloading all them bags, sacks and boxes by hand and then into bakers.nobody seems to give driver a lift.do they pay good bucks?sort of job you are better out of muck.

I did ■■■■■■■ back in May time. Grange Over Sands is a barsteward. Handball onto sack truck wheel down a ramp into a celler then handball into another room and stack. I think it was 150 odd bags or 2.5tonnes. You’re right nobody helps not even when they want it upstairs. Kirby Lonsdale is hated too; pumptruck a tonne along the road from the loading bay then carry up a cobbled alleyway through the rear of the bakery and stack.
Crap job, job and knock paid 55 hours but I’ve done 68 (don’t tell VOSA!).
I loved the driving but being a glorified storeman for lazy bakers didn’t appeal.

Avia light commercials were made by Aeronautica Industrie SA in Madrid from the late fifties up to 1970, when they were taken over by Ebro and closed down. I reckon this one must be around 1969/70 - it belongs to a local smallholder and still works the markets around the Vega Baja six days a week!

Steve.

Update - the old girl has finally failed the ITV (MoT) and been taken off the road. Spoke to the owner on Saturday and he’s not scrapping her, he’s going to spend the next few years restoring her. He is now running an absolutely immaculate fourteen year-old Nissan which he has just spent over four years restoring to showroom condition - really beautiful (if there is such a thing as a beautiful Nissan!)

Time here in Spain has a totally different meaning to UK!
