I wonder what happened there. No damage on the Berliet TRK 10’s cab.

Looks like an ongoing run-away backwards situation to me  I think they did fit handbrakes to Berliets :unamused:

Here are two more pictures of this accident which occured on the Nationale 7 in the village of Livron. Probably, excessive speed in the bend at the village entrance was to blame. They were lucky the petrol station didn’t end in flames.

Strewth! :open_mouth:

The Police motorcyclists show a different “attitude” in different countries, don`t they?
Parisian motards seem particularly…umm…animated.

That video is amazing Franglais, the skills that are on show are pure professionalism, shame it cannot be said for the other vehicle drivers that appear to be somewhat retarded in their appreciation of the urgency of the situation, thanks for posting.

The whole attitude is different.
None of the protective safety perimeter we see in the UK. Almost using their bikes as rams against vans etc.
I`ve run Paris many times, and this is how they do ride.

UK, Germany, the riders are wrapped up well all the time. I always wear heavy kit when Im on my bike, seems normal to me. In France its just short sleeve shirts in the summer for Police, Douane etc motorcyclists, even on m-ways.

I`m not sure that any of it is better, but it certainly is different.

I had one hit my car on the infamous Etoile in Paris back in the 70’s. He was riding assertively (read arrogantly) without blue lights or sirens on this well known roundabout, relying on his bike and uniform to cower motorists. He tried to cut in front of me despite me having priority. He clipped the rear edge of my wing and down he went… No damage to my vehicle happily. He was quite ■■■■■■ off but he was in the wrong and I made it clear that that was the case. Happily he accepted that and off I went.

I am trying to decide whether that is a particularly solid body on the Leyland or a poorly constructed bridge.

Looks like a fair few ton of stone sat on that body, doesn`t it?
Maybe more like an old town wall than a bridge though?

Yes, I think you are right. It would have been a good advert for the body builder I reckon!

The photo was taken in Lincoln, one of Humber McVeigh’s Comets clattered the old Roman arch.It had to stay where it was for a bit until the stones had been removed and numbered.I’ve been under that arch with a MK3 AEC tanker many times,it was a main road from the city centre out to the A15,not now though.
