These Scania Trucks were painted at a Commercial Vehicle Paintshop in South Moor Stanley Co Durham circa 1981 - 1983.They were supplied by Union Trucks - Main Scania Dealer. My Father - Peter Butler was involved in this business as a Signwriter. The first 3 trucks were signwritten by him, and the last 3 were done by a local signwriter when my dad took ill.
.
As the art of signwriting is a dying trade, its great to see how many trucks back then were painted and lettered properly, and not using cheap and nasty graphics.(IMAO).
I hope some of these pics bring back good memories to all drivers who remember these trucks.
Regards
Phil Butler.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply to my first post, although i can’t seem to find the north east drivers thread, even after using the search box.
I’ll be more than happy to transfer the post when i find the correct link.
I really liked your Freeway Scania 142 Pic, although my dad didn’t letter this one, he did many other Scania 2 and 3 series that Freeway later bought,
and also the Corbett skip vehicles too.
He did many other north east trucks, notably Siddle Cooks, Gallachers, Gurteens, Johnston of Berwick, Hodgsons, Van Hee, CB Chastney, Fresh Freight, Kent Connection, R A Young, but mostly was based at stanley until his illness in 1983
(had a Stroke), but then worked after that for about 7 years, until he finally stopped working , because of ill health, and the growing popularity of vinyl graphics, which many transport firms were increasing using.
Cheers
Phil.
