It could be it is one of Orange Bros , they were from Bedlington, & had coaches before the war, they even ran a service London. I have a book somewhere in my collection, I have a look & see if it tallys. Great stuff T/S, Regards Larry.

Cant find my book, another couple of names comes to mind, Jordans Coaches, Bedlington, & Bedlington & District Luxore Coaches, the latter belonging to Benson Transport, latterley Mink Run I think. I will still keep looking for my book, Regards Larry
I still see Bill Jordan (Jordans Coaches) from time to time, he drives for Parkside Travel in Cramlington
Benson Transport were they from Bedlington or Ashington ■■ IIRC they had quite a few Atkinsons, dark green with cream or yellow signwriting ■■?
Aye Bensons did run green Atkis, based at North Seaton I think.

Thats a canny workshop Larry!! I only hope that thats not your office on the left, with the open door? You must have had to use a few candles when the door was closed and you were busy on the “blower”!! Cheers Dennis.
Some of you lads get on about all the bling on these modern motors!! have you “clocked” the spot light on the cab roof of the motor Monsuer Dunbar(the 'andsome barsteward!!) is posing from!!! Theres nothing new is there! no matter what the modern lingo is to describe the latest “wheeze”!!! just look in at TNUK and you’ll see that these lads have been there ,done it ,and got the “T” shirt!!! Well it might be a bit tight round the middle nowadays, but they sure as Hell got there first!! Cheers Dennis.
Larry was Smiles the last one in the Newcastle area to have a coach built cabbed Atkinson 8 wheeler flat ?
as the last time i can remember see it was about 1974 on the quayside.
Looked great was a nice looking motor.
Well , you could be right Smiles had two, new Atkis YTY 520 which I have a photo of somewere in my shoe box collection , the other one was ANL.514B, It got stolen off Smithys Cafe at Derby, & later found in bits as a result of the hot spanner merchants. Bobby Megs drove YTY. & Norman (Piper) Clydesdale from the Gill had ANL. they were 150s with a D/B 6 Speed box, canny motors in their day., Shame that they stopped making these good old work horses, Regards Larry

Dennis the red cupboard was a reduntant 600 Gallon fuel tank, we used it it to keep our tools in ,IE our King ■■■■, & Snail Brand spanners, & not to forget our metric adjustables, & left handed screw drivers, & the of course we did have some snap on stuff, plus Kamasa gear, we still have them to this day . Regards Larry
Now Dennis , the light on the top of the cab of the MK 5 AEC 8 Wheeler that I drove in the 60s for my great uncle Isiac Smiles, was in fact amber coloured & flashed , of & on for when we carried wide loads, an earley version of the modern day beacons, Regards Larry,
