A Nicholls

that nicholls f12 is pictured waaay back on page 6 of this thread in its original marley colours it was driven for a while by big Ronnie Smith from Chester-le-Street

For Consettbell, these are the only only newton pics i have.

Lots of the older hands will remember the late Les Newton from Waugh’s, Alfie Ellis and a few other local firms. Les passed into local legend as the wonderfully nicknamed “Bacon Neck”.This is a shot of his son George known on this thread as “Son of Bacon Neck”. Best regards George. kevmac47

My mate drove this old Scania for a while from about 1999 for Herington Industrial Services which are based directly under the Queen Alex bridge in Sunderland mostly running steel up from Teeside for blasting and painting, it had been with another local operator before that the name of which escapes me, as far as I know it was scrapped by Darren Ord’s and the engine went for export, maybe some of the local drivers may remember it. It wasn’t actually a 113 though!

hi fodenbloke

i remember that scania hubby and darren ord had their commercial dealers next door to their yard, sadly hubby passed away couple of year ago he was one of my dads good friends, darren and his son still deal with the commercials.
heres a couple of photos down at hubby ord,s yard

Found another picture of it when it was first bought, I think they actually bought it from Ord’s as well incidently, they also had the little ERF shunter, ex co-op I think and they also had an old Leyland roadtrain in the yard which got the torch after it seized up, it had belonged to a firm in sunderland, not sure of their name but there colours were pale blue and grey if I remember correctly, I’ve got the roadtrain door badges of it somewhere so a little bit survives!

Chris Webb:
A bit out of town but what about Ridleys from Allendale with red wagons and was it Crawfords from Haltwhistle? - anyway blue wagons I think, their yard was near a cafe on the A69 going towards Brampton. There was another haulier from Ponteland but I can’t recall the name.
Harry, you are right about that lot from Bedlington with tippers - James was it,they ran at max warp and I never saw one parked up either (probably 'cos I didn’t park up much mesen) Have Burn Brothers been mentioned and Simpsons from Stocksfield and there was another from Rookhope Co Durham.

I have started lateley; more names from Ponteland Moffits Dunbars transport Jimmy Ions Tippers Alan Mowbryay John Young John Francis Distant Drums & not to Forget the Armstongs & Jack Young
