Hello F Troop. Am I Correct in thinking this 143 belonged to Armitage, the cattle Dealer from North Yorkshire. Not sure that this is the lorry that Mick Grant bought as Lawrence Dunbar says though. I seem to Think That was an Ex Olivers of Eccles 6x2 113 360/380 K33 OTK ā ā ? Danf troop:

Hi Danscania,
Your correct in saying the Scania G429YVN came from Armitage in Noth Yorkshire,I sure your correct the Scania Mick bought came from Olivers,Mick got it painted with his name on,then later took the offer up off Fergusons to have the truck painted free in Fergusons livery,He would then be paid a little extra on the rate for the jobs he did,If my memory serves me right i beleive the Reg was K33OTK as you have above.
The Olivers Reg is correct a personal number OTK Re Olivers Transport Kelso But Im sure the first Scania Mick had was Alan Eastons old wagon it was in Fergy,s Colours with M&K.Grant on the back of the cab, the Oliver one was never in Fergy,s colour, but can be corrected on this, Regards Larry.

Hello F troop. Re the Armitage/Redpath/Ferguson scania. I Remember Mick Grant Driving this for Redpaths then Fergys after the takeover. Think he got it after a 4000 series Foden which was in redpath colours. I Remain unconvinced that Mick actually owned it. However i could be wrong Mick Grant drove for my Father and uncle during the 70ās and 80ās. the house i live in now was until about 5 years ago, Rented from my Grandfather by Michaels Uncle George.

Hi Danscania,
Just spoken to Steven West and he says Mick Grants first Scania was G429YVN the 450 BHP from Fergusons,I now remember that to be correct as he ran the Scania for a while, but with it just being a 4x2 he had problems with coupling up to some of the new trailers with the deep pin and carrying the extra weight. He then sold the Scania and bought a Scania K33OTK off Olivers.
Hello Larry,
You were correct in saying Mick Grant bought his first Scania off Fergusons,The one Alan Easton Drove,
The second one was from Olivers.

hi kevā¦good to hear from you. I am still at the tunnel and hanging on waiting for the next round of redundancies. Terrified in case I have to go back on the road and work for a livingā¦but hopefully I should be ok. Found this site through another mate Chris Wilson who also worked for Oldies for a while but never come across your Phil yet. Some great photos on here but what frightens me is that I can remember them allā¦hate this getting old lark . I know we always say this but one day we will have to arrange a get together for a few bevvies. Take care and catch up with you soon I hopeā¦Colin
