Old North East haulage companies (Part 1)

Shouldn’t you be in bed now Jimmy instead of arranging to meet young lads in out of the way places!!!

Hy Jim, I’m on bloody stand by this week, I was hoping I’d get to the show this year too, I’ve just serviced our old 1951 Dennis 7 Fire Engine but nobody seems to know if its going to the showground or just to some event at Tynemouth Station, it used to be a regular on the Tyne Tees. I wouldn’t mind seeing the run passing by so I might see if I can wangle a run down to Chester le Street although I’m not sure which direction they take once the old A1 meets the A1M at Chester roundabout. I think by what the weather people say it might be misty and damp this weekend especially near the coast. Hope it doesn’t spoil things.
Franky. ps Bri your just jealous!

Franky when they come down the Chester by-pass some of them go up past the bus garage then turn right up the bank to the Civic Centre and others carry on down to the next roundabout and turn left on the Consett road then second left for Chester and into the Civic Centre that way.Trouble is they don’t all go to the Civic Centre cos it’s a bit tight in the car park, especially when it starts to fill up, so they just turn right under the motorway and head straight for Shiney Row, giving Bumper a wave as they go past.As I say I’m going to Shields so I’ll take plenty of pics and post them on here when I get home.

Dont forget to give me a wave Mk1 Transit coach built camper, did Border city Steam & Vintage last Fri / mon good weekend but rain spioled it a bit for the sat, Sun was busy though plenty of interest.
Franky long forgot about Norman Bell till you brought him up

Probably see you at Bents Park Greek. Just thinking it would be nice to see more motors in local hauliers colours. I know Jimmy Logan will probably be there with Murray Hogg’s Bedford but wouldn’t it be great to see a Transcontinental in Van Hee’s brown and yellowor an F88 in Elddis livery. I know Fergusons used to enter their old Dodge but it hasn’t been seen for years.

What happened to this one?

night shift bri:
Here’s a poster for Sunday’s run.0 Sorry it’s a bit on the small side but I couldn’t get it to download full size.See you all on Sunday, I’ll be there with my Scimitar.

Can’t make out the route, is there some other site I can get the poster from that might be clearer to read  .

Cheers

hiya,
That’s better Bri the first posting i couldn’t see with a magnifying glass, just pleased you are looking after us oldies who are getting a bit low on lamp oil.
thanks harry long retired.

Make sure you stick your heads in the model tent at the finish line at some point, you might recognise one or two old hauliers

Saw an advert for an old Scammel ex Siddle Cook moter was going to see Nigel Cook & ask him if he fancied doing one in Siddles colours I would have gladly took it to shows for him but working out of Prudhoe never got round to seeing him Brian I would have thought someone in the area might have had one painted in their colours before now. There`s one or two of Gallachers doing the show scene but none in their colours
