The Bowmans of Hexham pic looks like it was taken at Normans if Iām not mistaken. The yellow Merc behind could be Big Jeffs motor belonging to Tyneside Safety Glass. The Bowmans Leyland looks like them from Shildon. He runs the lorry museum there on Dabble Duck Ind. Est. which is well worth a visit if youāre in the area. Iām not sure if the two firms had any connection, possibly because thereās examples of both their motors in the museum.

Those wagons also used to drive up a roadway high up in the mill to discharge directly into the melt, think it was Templeborough but not entirely sure - be it was an impressive sight but never seen a photo of the operation?
Think you hit the nail on the head!!!

Back to Durhams, an old print of a Walsall depot ERF!!
Nice one Vic, my old man got one of these brand new when he worked out of Haverton Hill, (now N.E.T.V). I remember going out in it with him at every opportunity, it was like a Rolls Royce!! It also got me thinking about going with him in possibly a parrot nose Dodge when he worked for Milburns, and an OS Bedford for T.A. Bulmer. As an aside when I started work it was for Milburns as an apprentice diesel fitter, and in the 70ās I drove Atki Borderers for Durhams, who had moved to Cowpen Lane by then. Strange what one picture can bring back! Take care, Mizzo.

hi brian i jumped the gun a bit there when i saw the photo but a careful bit of detective work by me shows that its not my 1625 cos its got no wheel nut covers on i used to get them from plaxton coach company and had them on all 4 wheels
