Here’s one more that I found.
Nice pictures, I remember seeing the premiums parked up in the yard as a kid.
Who were NSD, and what the hell is that thing in the last picture?

Why the change in livery of some of the newer vehicles?

This vehicle belonged to Peter Waterworth he used to park it in the yard: he must have been keen of a treet as he drove it to the Dorset Steam Fair and back one year!

NSD steel stockholders there were a few vehicles painted in these colours and worked out of the Scunthorpe Depot, a few vehicles operated by Glendinnings were painted in the customers livery.
Hi
Most of the vehicles were away all week, with the exception being the tippers which tended to be around the
north-east.

I think the “gadgie” as you call him looks very smart in the photo.
Is it right what you say that you were the only long distance driver at Glennys? I thought they were almost all on nationwide work…

What is this trailor, Second one down and has it been modified in some way■■?
Sorry about the quality; this photo was taken in Consett Iron Co, the body was blown over by the very high winds after tipping a load of coal, the double drive was lifted of the ground. We had to wait several hours until the wind died down before recovery, no damage was done to the vehicle. The driver at the time was Gordon Pulman, the guy in the photo who shall remain nameless was wearing goggles because of the amount of debris flying around
Sorry already posted the pic with the stepdeck months ago.
Hi,
Remember that day! It felt like being in a Shotblasting Booth!

This trailer was built by Charles Roberts in Leeds, they only built 2 semi tralers and Glendinnings ended up with both, Got a photo of it loaded with 12 by Screw Loose. The trailer was last seen at Perth Car Transport. More than you can achieve on your plus 11!

hiya,
Can’t recall saying i was the only Glenny driver doing journey work, nor would i because nothing was further from the truth it would be the mid 70s when i did my bit at Island garage the only depot at that time and i can never remember there being more than 25/30 motors at that time the majorority of whiich were "down/up the road motors"there was a couple of drivers on artics who stuck round the doors as well as the tippers they seemed to stay localish but for the most us it was nearly always Brum or O’er the Border any South Wales was usually transhipped onto the “drop down car transporters” to get the car men down loaded and handy for Oxford and a load of cars back to the North East usually Marina’s in those days, but please Twinsplitter point me in the direction of where i said i was the only driver doing distance work i am aware i’m losing my marbles but cannot remember making such a stupid remark, the lads i mainly ran with on general haulage were my good friend to this day Brian Backhouse others were Gerry Irving, Dave and Ronnie Johnson Dave “Dickie Mint” Coxon these lads i ran with on a regular basis and we used the same digs in Dudley “Roger’s”.
thanks harry long retired.
